Cool New Rider...Too Big for a late model Speedy?

I'm 6'4", 245lbs...looking to get a late model speedy for my first bike. I have sat on a few at the local dealer but being that this will be my first bike I would like some opinions on my size in relation to the bike. I plan on going for good long cruises to the Carolina shore and mountains.

Thanks,
Corey

I think you would definitely be more suited to a Tiger. Go to your dealer, and test both bikes. I expect you will be cramped on the speedy. They are quite compact, and 6ft 4in is IMHO too tall for comfortable riding over any great distance. YMMV.

At 6'-3" I feel like the speedy is tailor made for me. I can't see 1" being a big deal but you do have 50 pounds on me.

Sorry about that! I thought you meant a Speed Triple! You'll be ok on a Speedmaster!

There was pics floating around somewhere, who has turned the foot peg bar around and fabbed up new brackets for the foot pegs and of coarse made a new shifter rod and it gave then at least another 3 to 4" of leg room

Cool 145Lbs to 245Lbs Is that Muscle!

If I was you I would go for the Thunderbird! Or the Rocket3 if you're willing to spend the dollars. Thunderbird would be my next choice if I could handle the power and weight, but @ 145lbs I've been told the Speedy looked to big for me and that was comming from a Harley rider. Whatever! EjoyN' Life!

I'm 6'5" and 255 lbs and as you well know, everything is to small.

I have an America and I do find it small. Someone has mentioned the foot brackets; that might help some. I personally find the seat to be more of a problem (different seat on the speedmaster). It would be nice if I could move the seat back a couple of inches. As for switching to a different bike, don't know if it will help much. Thing are just not made for people 6 and half feet tall. I have been considering a Bonnie or a Scrambler because of the bench style seat. Although not designed so tall guys could stretch out the seat does allow for it.

As for power, no problems. I was on the highway with the wife on the back (under 400 lbs, and she would not appreciate me saying how much under ) and easily accelerated to 135 km/h (~80 mph) to pass.

-Yes I have heard of this before and I will def look into doing it! Being as this will be my first bike ever, I think I will stick with the speedmaster size vs a t-bird...and yes 245lbs is muscle! (ex-american football player) Thanks for all the help everyone, I can already tell this is a great site. I will post all pics and how-to's that I figure out.
