evaporative recovery system??

Does every America and Speed have a canister mounted just behind the oil filter???? I've got none on mine but there is one on my wifes' bike...... they were made two months apart? ...Could hers be a California version? Looked it up on OEM parts and it is a bunch of tubes and bulk and weight..

Can it be removed? it is a floppy fragile thing on a flimsy bracket and in the way of the centerstand,,,that's how I discovered it while trying to mount the stand..

Is there something to plug??? will it change performance in some way? anyone got a clue ??

Norm,
I have an 08 America, a Calif model, that had the cannister. I found it the same way as you, when attempting to add my center stand. If I remember correctly it had either two or three hoses to it. I followed the hoses and couldn't find any reason why I couldn't just disconnect it and take it out of the system. Do a search and I think you'll find other information on removing the cannister, but as I said, I removed mine months ago with no adverse reaction.
