Unhappy Tires?/Tyres on America?

I've got less than 200 miles on my wifes 09 America and the front tire is visably out of round or mounted incorrectly it appears to move about 1/4 inch and shakes the front end pretty severely.. I thought at first it was just the nature of the bike cause I rode hers home first and then after picking up the other it is a totally different machine..has anyone had the Metzlers with this problem..I;ve been on the horn with the dealer and they say yhey will make it right...they have been great so far but we will see..I'm always skepticalllll...ya know thanks...

My front has done a bit more than 200 (5800) and was completley worn out, it was C**p (a Metzeler Lasertec). It followed everything on the road surface and then slipped on anything else. I have just had an Avon Road Rider fitted, completely different bike! The handling is soooo much better and predictable and no more following any cracks etc.

It sounds very much like an incorrectly mounted tyre. Needs to be removed, and re-fitted by someone who knows what they are doing! Your dealer should have the necessary equipment to do the job.

update 4 whom ever

Thanks M Guy...you were right on the money....Upon checking the front tire it is clear that the tire has been mounted badly as it has failed to be seated on the rim on the left side...thought about just letting the air out soaping her up and running some air in to fix it myself..any suggestions???

If you have a compressor, then you need to inflate the tyre to 90-100 psi, until it seats properly. Deflate the tyre first, and apply plenty of lubricant. There is a concentric line on the tyre, and, when viewed in relation to the edge of the rim, it should be the same distance all the way round.

Thumbs up Update

Well let all the air outta the front tire...the unseated section of the tire separated from the rim a bit...lubed the rim with trademark secret substance (windex) and ran the air up to approx 65...the tire popped on the rim and seated just like it should have at the factory..A OK as they say...thanks for the input...sometimes you know the answer just need a nudge
