Gear whine 790 vs 865 America /Speedy
Has anyone noticed a difference in the gear noise on the 2 engine sizes? The cases a a bit different on the 2 i was wondering if you can notice any difference in sound on the 270 motors.
My 790 Bonnie seems to have less noise than the 2 865s i rode is it the same with the America/speedys ?

I had an 03 america 790 and now have a 05 865 and never noticed much gear whine noise difference. I notice the whine will change some depending on which oil I'm using though.

Normandy, what oil do you use and which one quiets the noise the most? I run Mobile1 15-50 car oil so maybe thats why my 04 is quiet it has 18k miles under its wheels.
What are the most noticable differences in the 2 bikes in general. Would you choose one over the other and why?

Drifter, debaffle your pipes and you won't notice the noise.

I found it quieter with 10w40 over all the others I tried. Royal Purple was the brand but it got stupid expensive so I am still experimenting with other brands and viscosities.

Sorry Drifter, my comment was made tongue in cheek. I have no experience with the older Triumphs, so can't respond to your question.
