Top 3 best boosts for 790cc twin

Im new here and not a whole lot more experianced in wrench work for cycles. What top 3 or 4 tweaks give the best bang for the buck for the above mentioned engine.I would like to keep the costs for these 3 or 4 additions under 500.00I get most of my enjoyment riding this bike on back roads where I would like to have the improvements matter most in the low end.

Ah, Pennsylvania...thanks. This is really the section for Bonnevilles, T100, Thruxtons, etc. The chances are that you'll get more answers in the specific section for the America and Speedmaster in their specific forum.

You're probably right. There's very little traffic on the America forum.

I'm trying to think what mods will improve bottom end. Someone might know. The usual popular mods, i.e. airbox removal, pipes, etc won't really help bottom end grunt.

The cheapest way would be gearing down by fitting a larger rear sprocket or a smaller gearbox sprocket.

Thanks !Ill wait and see if anyone else drops by.I am thinking I want better responsiveness from the engine.Maybe that would be best gotten in the ignition system, idk just thinking aloud. The gearing down would be a problem for the bikes other use.I like to ride it to work, the commute takes me through nasty cager country at about 65-70 mph.Too low gearing would be an issue.

yes but even with those basic mods you've just mentioned, you have already far exceeded his budget of 500 bucks

the only real performance gains will require a lot of money, duncan

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Forchetto, My experience is that pipes and opening up the airbox a bit will help all through the rpm range. Unfortunately, your $500 mark will pretty much be gone with a pipe purchase. you could debaffle, but that mainly just helps with sound. Of course if you are even a slight bit mechanical, opening up the airbox isn't hard at all. Do a search here, you'll find help. Then search British Customs for pipes, that's my best advise. Anything more is going to be $$$.
