Running - In

Hello Forum,
What is the correct way to run your new bike in.Long steady rides on the motorway, or riding around town going up and down the gears.

When i got my new Thruxton i asked the same question to my Triumph dealer,he said that there was no real running in prosess, however,i did run the bike smoothly over a period of time till after the first service. And now with 2500 miles on the clock i run the bike as normal and all is fine.

My dealer said to ride it like you normally would, but don't go beyond 5000 rpm for the first 400 miles. Don't lug the engine - let it rev, and allow the engine to help you on the braking.

Like what Captdon said. Just don't hold one steady speed for prolonged periods.
