Lacquer worming

Hello,

I have a 2008 Triumph Speedmaster and I have had a lot of trouble with the lacquer finish on the top yoke and the lower fork legs, the trouble is "worming" which is a spidering effect under the lacquer finish due to moisture, I have had these parts changed 4 times in 14 months under warranty, has other owners bikes suffered from this problem?

Cheers, Kelvin

My 08 started doing that a few months of riding called Triumph US and was told that it was due to water getting under the clear on the yoke and on the bottom of fork legs and said duh . it was part of the finish of the bike and wouldnt be covered under warranty .

My 08 has done it 5 times now and I had them replaced under the warranty here in the UK, two days ago was the last time they were changed, perhaps it would be better if you was to contact Triumph direct.

Had mine replaced a year ago under warranty, I have a 2007 model speedy. It gave me the sheets every time I looked at it.

The replacement has held up well and so far no problems.

Try a dealer who is not an ass to support your claim ...

Of course it is a warranty issue

I noticed this laquer worming on an 08 at the dealer when I bought mine. How have you all dealt with this after the warranty runs out or is this laquer a recent addition?

Hi I had the same prob with my 08 speedy took it back told triumph i wasnt happy with the finish their reply was its because you live near the sea (yeah sure ) so i took their hand book down to them
page one of owners handbook
quote(warantee claims for cosmetic deterioration of parts will not be allowed if it is apparent that this important advice has been neglected ) the advice is that it is cleaned and dried read your hand book take it back to the dealer it worked for me tripple clamp and both bottom fork legs replaced

Took mine into the dealer 2 weeks ago, worming on lower forks and yoke. They took pictures to send to Triumph for a warranty claim. Chased them up today and they said "these things can take 2-3 months to process"

Gave them "a good talking to" and they will chase up on Monday, anyone had a similar experience?
