Saddlemen Teardrop bags?

I've seen several photos/threads from folks with the Saddlemen Drifter and Drifter Slant bags, but I haven't seen any with the Teardrop bags on an America/Speedmaster. With the cutout for the rear shock, it appears that the Jumbo-sized bags should fit without any issues. Just wondering if anyone has any insight before I order. [LINK]

To answer my own question, the Jumbo bags fit quite nicely. I had to trim the bags a bit to get them to work with the easy brackets, but an altogether painless install.

jwalcik - looks great!

When you say you had to trim the bags, where did you have to trim?

The bags come tied together with a yoke that has zip-off disconnects for each bag. It also comes with a set of "universal" brackets to keep the bags out of your suspension/chain/rear wheel. Universal means "Harley Davidson" (at least the bolts the kit comes with does, you could probably drill the holes out and get your own metric replacements).

There are four screws that hold the saddlebag side of the zipper on. I removed all four. I used a drill to bore out the 2nd and 4th holes. They lined up perfectly with the top two bolt holes in the easy brackets. I then marked and drilled holes for the lower two bolts.

With the "cruis'in" style bags, the saddlebags open back to front. There is a small plastic buckle in the back that you turn, and then the bags open towards the front of the bike. On the bike-side of bags, the lid overlaps a fair amount in the front (2-3"), along the side (1 1/2"), and then again in the very back (3"). The back is where I had problems. The deep flap was pushed up against the back of the easy bracket. I had to trim it up near the back so that the overhang followed the 1 1/2" arc along the rest of the bag. The part that needs to be trimmed is very clear once you have the brackets and bags bolted together.

Does that make sense? If not I can get some pictures when it's light out.

Thanks for the explanation! Again, the bags look real nice on your bike! They are a great match curvature-wise with your seat and fender.

Not a problem at all, and thanks! I'm definitely happy with the way the bags follow the shape of the fender.
