Replacing the OEM light

The headlight on the Speedie is pathetic . Fortunately, they use the good old standard bulb (7" H4). I just recently replaced it with Hella E-code unsealed bean with a 80/100 watt bulb. It is non-DOT so just be aware of it. I have been using E-code lights for a long time. It is much brighter and safer because it has a sharp horizontal cut off. It does not blind the on coming traffic likes others.

I ordered one that has City Light. So I need to solider the old plug from the OEM light to the new Hella light.

I turned on the light and had it run for a while. I checked the wires, they did not get hot at all. So there is no need to install a reply for the higher wattage bulb. You can opt for 90/130 watt too.

Not this particular install because my speedie is not quite road ready yet. But I have been using Hella E code light for over 10 years in other vehicles. The difference is day and nite, even a blind man can tell the different . The other comparable choice is PIAA 7" H4, but the cost is much higher. HTH.

I just replaced the idiot lights on the dash of 09 America with LED bulbs the difference is amazing. You will not forget to cut the blinkers off with these bulbs.
