This is more than you need to make it run, so that doohickey probably isn't that important.
Been a while since I ripped my harness off so I can't remember exactly what it looked like, but I bet that's the accessory hook up or something along those lines.

these plug into the purge valves of the evaporative loss control system on California models. Not used on any other models.
