Tank mounted speedo anyone?

Does anyone know if there is a speedometer out on the market (digital or analog) that will fit into the the Speedmaster/America tank replacing the clock/tach?

Looks aren't important, I just want to eliminate any gauges hanging off my bars and clean up the lines of the bike.

I've done some searching, and have not come up with anything.

You will most likely have to measure the available depth in the console and the face size and get a universal one. It might even have a tach/speedo combo. Let us know what you come up with.

Wow, you're the exception to the rule sir ! Most everyone here hates tank mounted instruments and wished the speedy/america had nothing on the tank ! I gotta say tho, it never bothered me when i had a speedy and now that i have the Tbird with everything on the tank i agree....it really cleans up the lines. At first i thought i would be bothered by having no instruments up there, but immediately i came to like it a lot !

that said there are tons of aftermarket ones out there and i'm sure you could do it, but you may have to do some fabricating or modding to make it happen because i don't think anyone makes one specifically for that bike's nacelle position.

It's doable without going electronic, the drive cable is long enough. You'd have to punch a hole in the bottom gusset at the head tube, the back bone, and through the tank(weld a piece of pipe there).

I had a 2:1 mini speedo for my non-op shovelhead project that I tried and it turns out it's spot on for the America drive ratio. Either that or I got a miss labled one for the harley Speaking of that project, it's got a 2 piece 3.5 gal fat bob tank, so the speedo drive cable goes right in the middle no problem. Maybe you could look into a different tank/dash set up while you're at it

My mini speedo view:

I randomly had success with one labeled 2:1, so I'm working off of that. I remember reading 2240:60(or whatever that standard weird ratio is) for the bonnies somewhere but I dunno if that's true. Glad I tried the 2:1 I had sitting around before ordering something else.

its a 2:1.. just (for the sake of yer sanity) dont use Drag Specialties... i bought a cheapo lil $45 one to clean up the look and it fragged itself on an epic scale within a season. by the end the cable spun the needle in time with the wheel, until it shredded itself. kinda funny to watch, tho.
