I sure hope not, that's part of the fun is having something a bit different. I've always said about the cruiser culture that they're trying to be different like everybody else. I have been noticing a bit more attention on my rides around town, but I figured it was probably because I've been constantly upgrading my bike. CAUTION GRATUITOUS PIC OF OWN MOTORCYCLE

I'm grateful for the gratuitous pic--very nice. Always makes me want to convert to black from yellow. The black just looks like a very high priced whore--oozing sex. Reminds me of my 993 black porsche I had years ago.

I guess I shouldn't have said that.

Niche - we are the ones that ruined the "niche"...
Your absolutely right. More over the top middle aged guys trying to live out youngster fantasies buying these trumps as well hipster kooks trying to fit a "hotrod" cafe style rockabilly Im cool lifestyle - much like the HD crowd - actually worse, because HD guys actually get on their bikes and ride...
Im a chopper owner as well as a Thrux owner. I have owned more vintage cafes since the early 80's than I like to think about, but I do like both, of course I love my thrux and wont sell it, but I will sell my chop just to make another.
I would actually like to point out something as well, Chops are chops, homegrown hand built bikes, not HD that you bought off a dealership floor and not a Thruxton - bolt on parts dont make you a builder or an innovator nor cool, as well a "bobber" isnt custom either because someone painted the rims red or black, Im talking chopped. If you really think about it, the Thrux and Bonnie are what they are and will attract lame asses - really, they are no different than the HD crowd, instead of tassles you cuff your pants and instead of vests you wear a Trump jacket - so because we are riding something other than Hd, dont even begin to think that we are different, better or cooler than the other guys, because I will tell ya I have never met so many dry, boring, a$$ people with no riding skills to speak of through the various 'rat" clubs that think they are cool because they have the latest and greatest bolt on muffler system on, but have met MANY stand up HD/Vintage/Chop guys that are fun to ride with, have the skills to ride and actually have talent but dont go around flaunting it by talking crap or thinking they are cool because they have or think they have the coolest thing on the block.
Just for the record, I have met a few stand up people as well through the rat clubs so Im not trying to attack anyone, but if you feel attacked then maybe you should relax and learn to laugh a bit.

Sorry for the rant - it sort of went and went and went but apparently this has been on my mind for a few - sorry to take you guys away from the other posts - now you can go Back to which helmet, underwear and bra looks best with the Thrux posts...;-)

I'm with Roxy. Whitehurst's somewhat bitter rant aside, the Cafe thing and bikes like the Thrux are never going to be truly mainstream in the US. More popular than before, yes, some new phase of cool, sure, but so what. I'd rather see more Thruxtons than Fat Boys, I don't care who's riding them or polishing them..

Not sure if my post was meant to be bitter - just the truth, the only thing I am bitter about is that I just dont know where those darned smileys are on this board...

I think the bad rap the hd folks get is the affectation the lifestyle becomes, like a soul patch. Not the chopper guys, but the dang hd people, with their executive salaries, skullmets, hd jackets, cialis/viagra, and full leathers with fringe, make me more cynical than the middle-aged rats with limited riding skills like me.

But unfortunately for the real chopper riders, the hd wannabes are grouped with them.

There. That's my rant on hd drivers. I only know one chopper rider and he's cool.

Even if the secret's out, weight limitations will rule out 50% of the HD crowd from riding a Triumph or Cafe racer.

Thanks for the nice words! I let my bike read the rest of your comments, and I think she's blushing!
