Guys & Ladies,

I am leaning toward the CRG bar end mirrors. From the site, it appears that the mirrors will bolt to the end of bars that are 7/8". I don't want to move my controls inboard to accomodate this install.

My thought is that I can get bar end weights/extensions that are 7/8" in diameter. Have any of you done this mod?

Thrux-ton-up: has the Rizoma reverse bar end mirrors that bolt onto bar ends. Are those 7/8" bolt ons, and if so what type of bar end weights did you use for the install.

I appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Karl

I used these.

I had to use some black tape to Shim it but it works fine.

Check out bevel heaven or bent at (new bonneville) they sell an adapter that is effectively the same as a bar end weight. Either approach should work. I would recommend tapping over size to 6mm to get better clamp on the adapter or end weight. I think you will like the mirrors, image is small but clear with no vibration.-T1

The simplest and cheapest trick for installing CRG's is to to go to the local hardware store and find some stainless fender washers of around 7/8" outside diameter. You will also need some longer bar end screws (about 1/2" or so longer) you then put a stack of the washers between the weight and the bar effectively extending the bar by the required amount. This method is cheap, easy, effective but also requires no modifcation of the bike.

For an excellent online source for the washers and screws see mcmaster.com

Yeah i forgot about that Thruxtonone is right. going from the Stock Mickey Mouse ear mirrors to these is a huge difference in viewable area.

KAH24 - i used the lockhart phillip bars ends from trick tape- 9.95 a pair and they bolt right on with the stock bolt - but have a bigger bolt you could tap and use - I have 5000 plus miles on mine with no problems using the stock bolt. They do not indicate size - just tell them when ordering you need 7/8. You do not need longer bolts because the inside is recessed. The Rizomas come with adapters to fit a variety of bars and they bolt right on with no problems. The bar ends are cheap and give the bike a more finished look. No cutting, tapping, grinding or moving of controls needed. Revert to stock in minutes. JCW

Thrux which shim did you use? The black plastic shim was too thick and the white one was too thin? I had to wrap the bar end with some electical tape to thinken up the white one.

Jo - used part of the black shims - used a blade to cut off a section big enough to make a nice snug fight going onto the bar end - then when I tightened up the bolt the mirror is very secure. JCW
