music - "I'm in the mood to mod" (sung to I'm in the mood for love)... Is the AI removal worth it? The cost of $30 or so seems to be, but I kinda am likin the bluing of the pipes (though one side is different than the other - no changing it now).

Planned mods:
Bar end mirror
Tax Disc
Gaiters
Wheel seal (to run tubeless eventually)
Suspension upgrades (front and rear)
Polished bits

Completed mods:
TORs

If your pipes are blue, they will still be blue without AI.As far as cost, the kits look and work good, but as one member mentioned, you can remove the AI,snip off the chrome pipe and weld or braze the hole shut and smooth it down, then re-install for ZIP cost.

AI removal, no matter how you do it, is worth it. Just for what it does to cleanup your engine. I have a CA model, and there were 2 canisters and many hoses that went bye-bye.

Also, my backfiring on off-throttle went bye-bye.

It will also lower the temp around your feet /knees. I took mine off when I was living in Tucson AZ and havn't looked back.

Of course there where a couple cold rides this winter where it could have been usefull

There is no increase in performance, and no re-jetting is needed

One thing to note, since your in California, your bike will need more than what comes in the kit. You'll need another plug for the other carb, and you'll need a tiny plug for the hose that connects the carbs. These things are real cheap from your auto parts store, but I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for all the info and the Cali model detail. Probably install to reduce amount of "stuff" hangin out in the engine area.
