I just copied my earlier mislaid response for your information. Daughter still has my digital camera so unfortunately no pics yet. I will get it back this weekend and hopefully submit something for your consideration.
Did want to note again however, that rack really looks good, to my happy surprise. (So do not 'rackaphobia' so to speak.) Top case is another story, and really does not enhance the bike's looks,....oh well... but it does carry stuff and comes off easily so that I am very happy with it and highly recomend the set up for those of you needing to haul stuff on a daily or near daily basis.
Otherwise hear what I said earlier:
Just picked a top case and rack from dealer ordered through hepco becker. Cost just under $350.
Hepco-becker also makes rack and side caaes at about twice the above cost, depending on case size.
This was tough decision as any type of case seemed like it destroyed cafe racer look and image of the thrux. But I do like to commute and teardrop backpack/messenger pack simply not big enough or too cumbersome depending on which I used, so needed something for commute days or short trips.
Side cases handier, but did not like the look at all. Top case comes off and rack not too obvious so I felt thrux still kept its look and heritage. Besides, top case works for 90% of my commute needs, and less than helf the cost, so choice easy between the two.
Am very pleased with rack. Cowl stays on and rack works as grab bar and is not too noticeable. Thrux still looks like a cafe racer for the most part--
Top case look is heretical to racer heritage but works absolutely great. Holds enough for commute--gym bag and or laptop or laptop and file. Comes off with flick of a switch for short rides, and thrux looks like itself again.
Also, with case on, nice back rest and more comfortable than without for those rare occasions I want to take a passenger.
Altogether, this was an excellent compromise and I am quite pleased with purchase. Will post pic or two this weekend, if you like.
