brake light question

I bought a brake light from new thruxton because I already had a mount and blinkers and just needed the light.

The brake light has 3 wires as does the stock wire harness on the thrux.

brake light has red, black, yellow wires... harness has red, black, blue

At first the light didnt come on, so I took the yellow wire and grounded it to the frame instead of connecting it to the blue. The light works now but does not brighten when the brakes are applied.. any ideas?

Yes, I have an idea!

I had this same problem when I mounted my aftermarket taillight on my Bonnie. It would light up, but wouldn't brighten when the brakes were applied. Turned out I had the wires hooked up all wrong.

I finally figured it out with a tester light, but to save you the trouble of all that, here's a highly detailed schematic:

That is quite the schematic.

On closer inspection, that diagram is all wrong. Sorry.
