Hi All,

What kind of motorcycle lift do I want to do basic maintenance on my Thruxton? Any suggestions about where to get it? Thanks for the help.

I bought a 1500 lb. motorcycle/atv lift from my local Checker Auto for $49! More than adequate for the Thruxton.

I have the Harbor freight one, 1500 pounds capacity. $59.99 but occasionally on sale for $39.99

I have found a really safe way to get my bike on the lift, on my own. I position the lift under the frame (careful of the oil filter) and I use some old rubber hose between the lift and the bike frame to protect the frame. All the while the bike is on the side stand. I then get on the bike to steady it upright, and pump the lift hydraulic pedal with my foot, to just lift the bike (and me) slightly. I then get off the bike, and it stays upright on the lift enabling me to continue pumping up the lift to the desired height.

Anyone have any other method?

Lifts are fine, however one note, a swing arm stand or stands work well too on the Thruxton. I prefer the stands because they are super stable, and you don't have to muss with tie-downs.

Thanks for all the advice. I was reluctant to install my Ikons by myself because I had neither a center stand nor a lift. A local guy was going to charge me about $50 for the labor. With your advice I purchased a lift for about $50 and installed the Ikons myself. The lft has already paid for itself!
