Hooked up with a couple of crotch rockets(suz 1300 and 750) on sunday at the hangout. Did a 100 miles with 'em. As mentioned before by others, I was right with 'em on the turns, stock shocks and all. When we took a break, they were surprised with my performance(not as surprised as I was...Haven't been that "tense" since my first date) and drooled over the bike. I now realize the shocks gotta go. The chicken strips are completely gone, so I think I'm ready for the ikons.

Sunday was fantasyland all the way.

Good for you. Let them keep on thinking you're just a great rider on a poor bike if that's what they want. I've found the same thing when leading groups, and these guys all talk about how quick the pace was for them. One friend with a Paso 900 keeps talking about it. I just smile and remind him that there's really only 100cc difference in our bikes, image notwithstanding. Sure, they can go away in straights, but except for a good rider on a sport bike, I think we handle better than them all. I put it up to a good, light, well balanced bike & frame combination, and that tall front wheel which makes me feel like I could put the bike anywhere in a corner I wanted.
