Cafe'd Scrambler

Anyone convert a Scrambler to look more like a Thruxton?

I'm thinking something similar to the yellow bike in this thread but without the fairing:

http://www.triumphrat.net/club-cafe/...t-fairing.html

Reason, I'm asking is because I have a 2008 Scrambler I received as a gift from my lovely wife. Although it is cool and fun to ride, I prefer the cafe'd look and have no intentions of ever taking it off pavement anyway. In addition, I'm 5'7 with a 30" inseam and am a few heels short of flatfooting on the right side at the stops. Lowering it may solve that issue but then it may actually be the high pipe extending my leg out preventing me from planting my leg straight down like on the left side of the bike.

I'm also considering to not strip the bike of it's character and instead trading it in for a Thruxton and be done with it.

Appreciate any thoughts or opinions.

Thanks,

Damien

I don't see why it couldn't be done.
But you may just want to get a Thruxton, it would be a bit cheaper- though it may break your old lady's heart...

If you went through all the work to do it, you might as well upgrade everything, as far as the suspension goes. Y'know?

I have an older and somewhat cafe'd BSA Victor. I haven't lowered it or changed the front end much- I think it turned out pretty good for a scrambler type of bike. It still has the small front headlight, dual seat, and mid sets, so it's not totally cafe'd yet- but it looks pretty cool (to me anyway).

Your bike would look pretty similar in a way. MUCH bigger and faster though.

It wouldn't take much, get some lower bars, some better (street) tires, lower the front 10-15mm by sliding the fork tubes up in the clamps, get a thruxton seat and cowl (or a solo seat), and some of the Scrambler rearsets that newbonneville.com sells.

voila = scrambler cafe racer.

Do it.

I'm already on my way to a cafe'd Scrambler:

Polished front fender and Tomasselli clip-ons are on order already. Clip-ons will be installed on top of triple clamp after raising the front fork to lower height (currently running superbars rolled back as far as they'll go without hitting the tank). Classic "lucas" style headlight w/ tomasselli style brackets, "lucas" style tailight and thruxton seat are already installed. Planning on installing matched 19x2.5 excel rims/more "street biased" rubber next off season.

I've since ditched the massive/ugly speedometer housing for a mini unit and dialed in the headlight position, but here's a picture from early this season:

blackstar1965 - that BSA looks cool to me too. As you suggested, I think I'll take the advice of "Maury Finkle, founder of Finkle Fixtures, Biggest Lighting Fixture Chain in the Southland." and "Do it"

sweatmachine - that is a "sweetmachine". Yes for now it looks like a just a few bolt on mods will get it there. I'm gonna try moving the fork tubes up this weekend and also order some parts online. I'll post a new thread later with progress.

justbrian - nice work too on that 07. Good visual to see where the transition is going.

Thanks,

Damien
