CB 750 Cafe Project

Alright, I know that this is a little off the "Triumph" thread, but I am looking to purchase a CB750 bike for a cafe project. I am in the process of gathering info, and trying to find out all I can about the ins and outs of the bike. (what to look for, and what to avoid)

I know that there are a handful of you who have some experience with theses bikes, and I was wondering if there are any good CB750 forums (similar to this one) to find info and resources?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Simmons

None that I can think of per se, but if you go to any of the generic cafe forums, you'll find lots of folks modifying CB bikes into cafes. Of course, if the Google "Carpy" and "CB 750 Cafe Racer", you'll find tons of stuff.

Here are a couple of places to go:

Good luck!

You can always check out Carpy for inspiration...www.cb750cafe.com

As for finding an old CB 750 they're pretty easy to find . Even check out the 550s as well. A nicely tuned 550 can haul arse too.

I've 'cafe'd' 3 cb's. A 350/360/450 and a cl 450. I picked up a carpy built 78 cb 750 at one point to, but that was short lived and "returned" because it was light years from sorted out. 750's are commonly referred to as the "baby elephants" of the cafe family being as how heavy they are. Plus w/ the older bikes the carbs are usually a point of evil and there's a bunch of them on the 750. Most cafe's run here in los angeles are of the smaller cc variety. Carpy's stuff used to be expensive. Really really expensive. (As in $500 for a cafe seat using your own seat pan as a base) Which in my opinion kind of goes against the 'cafe mantra'. But I think he's gotten a little more reasonable as of late w/ prices. In california if the old bike doesnt come w/ a title that's a chp inspection headache if it's fallen off the computers, watch for back taxes on non-op bikes or tickets that fell the way side of the previous owner however many years ago. Anyways I digress. Here's so cool sites for parts and such.......

and for those hard to find vintage compatible rearsets ...

The last 2 I finished up......

And the one I got from Carpy......
