I am looking to replace my handle bars with something a little flatter but I don’t want to drastically change the riding position.

Does anyone have the Super Bars from BellaCorse? How drastically do they change the riding position?

Does anyone have the Low Café Bars from Flanders (Model A5)? The measurements seem similar to the Super Bars.

I am leaning towards the Flanders. What do you think?

In the photo, those superbars look awfully WIDE. So I went and measured my Heli-bars, and tip-to-tip they are only 24" wide, installed on the bike. I think that's even about an inch wider than stock. The Flanders bars are either 32" or 34.75", so you may add almost a foot to the width of your bike.

You'll have to lean farther forward to hold those bars, and the wind resistance will go way up. Before you do it, just try holding a yardstick at both ends and lean forward on the bike to see if you like the riding position.

I am interested in your results, esp if you do decide to install the bars.

The 34.75" Flanders bar are not an option. I have heard the BC Sport Bars are too wide and they are 34".

The stock bars on my Bonneville are 28.5" inches wide and the Super Bars are 31" wide. I am not as concerned about the additional width as much as I am concerned about the lower rise and shorter pullback. It may be uncomfortable.

I may need to make a template of some sort so I can see how the bars might feel.

Template sounds like a good idea. My first thought was paper towel rolls and duct or masking tape (the classics!) but you could go all fancy and use PVC pipe or some such...

Did you write BellaCorse to ask about expected changes in riding position, comfort, etc? I would expect that they would give you good advice.

Hey Turk,

Get the right rise and pull back you want - don't worry about width (if it plays a factor the bars you want) - thats what hack saws and grinders are for. Get the bars you want -mount them on the bike close your eyes and grab on the bars where it feels comfortable - then if theres excess width it gets chopped off. JCW
