Need Suspension Advice

Hey there! I'm going to be upgrading the suspension on my Thruxton (finally) and I was curious to hear everyone's opinions on what brands they like. I'm talking about fork springs as well as the rear shocks. I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks in advance!

With almost no actual experience, I have no place giving advice, however, I have "wasted" a lot of time reading threads on this forum...

I chose Ikon forks and shocks. Upgrading fork springs should be done immediately. The benefit is immediately appreciated. The shocks give more feedback, but are compliant enough to keep the rear planted over lower quality roads. The overall ride is stiffer than stock, which isn't the goal, but is a difference.

I've not messed with adjusting the shocks much, choosing to wait for a track day where I can repeat cornering between changes. With only a few thousand miles on the upgrade, I'm very happy with the Ikon setup, but have nothing other than stock to compare to.

I'd do the same again.

it really depends on how much you want to spend...but IMO the Ikon setup is a good moderately priced system that will give you a much better feel for the road.if it is a little to stiff in the front end use a lighter weight oil.

I fitted the Ikon units to the rear and have left the forks alone other than reduce the spring preload by one ring. I have fitted the Hyde fork brace and Hyde steering damper. I weigh 175lbs without riding gear and this set up is perfect for me, on the road and track. The Ikons give a more compliant ride over the bumps with excellent damping control, which is more than can be said for the stock units.

My advice - change the rear first and adjust the spring preload on the front to match. Modify the forks only if you find it necessary.

I weigh the same and run the forks the same way. They work 1000x better with less preload.

I am going to do the F3 swap though, just because I have the parts. If I could just stop riding the bike and actually do it...

IKONS front/rear and I'm 195lbs pre-gear. Best bang for the bucks. Agreed, you dont really need to change the fronts.
