Tacho problems.

Has anyone had problems with their tacho? Mine worked fine for a few hundred miles since my rebuild but has developed a fault. As I accellerate between 4 and 6K it jumps around and then will shoot up to the red line once I pass 6K. I think the problem's in the tacho and not the ignition control unit as it's otherwise running fine.

BTW I just fitted my flatslides and boy does it go now. Still a bit of dialing in to do though to eliminate the spitting and stuttering at town speeds.

when I cruise at around 4500-5000 it bounces all over the place... the tach has never seemed very consistent to me... though, my last bike had no tach so I only have my car to compare it to and a V8 will tach differently then a motorcycle twin....

The Bonneville tachos are notorious for bouncing around at 4000 or so RPM. Many of them do it, including mine. It's not too bad on mine though, so it doesn't bother me.

Yours seems out of control, hopefully it's covered by warranty.

Hmm. Seems like a common problem. Shouldn't worry too much, I guess. I just had it on a Dyno this morning and that didn't reveal any ignition problems.
