Making the wheel base longer will only make the bike handle SLOWER. A shorter wheel base makes a bike change direction quicker and in my opinion makes for better handeling. A dampner might be in order to help make up some of the high speed stability one might lose.
Lowering the front end in the triple trees alters the rake and trail effectively making a bike handle more quick. However this aslo loses some high speed stability as well as ground clearance.
Rather than just guess, take a look at what is being done at the track.
