Stripping Wheels

Has anyone found a way to strip the powder coat off the wheels without tearing them down. Paint stripper has no effect. I would like to polish them but I cant see spending that much on tear down & reassembly not to mention down time right when the riding season is stating to look good here.
I just hate that silver look

They are Thruxton rims but no thanks I just like polished aluminum not fake silver paint powder anodizeing stuff. If they are anodized I am really lost on how to get it off.

Anodized pieces can be stripped with lye.
Better to have it professionally stripped for something as large as a rim you will get more even and favorable results.

This would mean disassembly.
If you plan on polishing the wheels, shouldn't it be taken apart so you can get a clean polished finish?
I can't imaging having them polished with out taking them apart.

I know I am just being cheep. But if I could get them bare I am sure they are close to being polished and I can hand rub them out. It worked on all the side covers & fork legs + the finish would match everything I have done so far.

Bill, if you are thinking of swapping bonnie wheels for thrux wheels, they are not just a straight swap. The brake rotor is larger and the mounting point for the calibur is different. It has been done. It is just a little invloved.
