Holy cow! There I was, sitting in traffic in on the Oregon Expressway in Palo Alto, CA,. I had moved to the front of the traffic between the lanes (thanks, sensible traffic laws) and I was right between two guys with something to compensate for, i.e., they were both in Ford Excursions, and shooting each other the stink-eye.

Well, I did not want to be in the middle of the drag race between these two barge pilots, so I gave it a little extra on the take-off. Revved to about 3K, slipped the clutch gently and took off hooligan-style on one wheel!

Dang, I thought the mods had helped with the power, but my little baby did a wheelie all on its own. Seat of pants dyno says the power improvement is real.

Who else has ridden the Thrux unicycle-style? Intentionally or just happened?

Right on! That will be the image of Triumph burned into those knobs' minds. That's great.

When I got my Thruxton, It did not feel like it would wheelie very readily and on demand (due to its geometry). Boy was I wrong...

I wanted to try an on demand moving wheelie, not a wheelie from a stop. What I did is as I was cruising in first gear, I revved her up to about 5000 RPM (give or take, I just revved until I felt the first burst of torque), then I abruptly closed the throttle, and then cracked the throttle wide open. Her front end lifted up about 1 foot according to my buddy who was watching.

My buddy rides a Ducati Monster 900, and he is the one who taught me this technique (he does it all the time on his Duc). He has even been trying to convince me that I should gear down my Thrux for more explosive low end grunt around town. Who knows, I might do that, if it does not make my highway performance suffer.

Cool job on that power wheelie Dr English!

Well, my wheelie was unintentional, but now that I have your friend's Monster technique I may start executing them on demand.

Heh heh heh. Hooligan time.
