Special tool needed ?

I went to change out my Triumph Gas tank logos and noticed that it was secured with a bolt that I have never seen ? Is there a tool needed to take them off ?

Tool

Have you got the thick metal badges with the black rubber behind them or the newer thinner plastic badges, which I thought were glued on?
The older ones have star head screws. You'll need a star head screwdriver to take them off.

They're called Torx head screws. You can get a box of Torx bits in various sizes (that should fit all the Torx screws on your bike) - they usually come with a 3/8" drive that'll fit on your socket wrench.

They're Security Torx bolts (aka Torx Tamper Resistant or Torx TR) they have a raised pin in the center, so regular Torx wrenches will not work with them.

If you wiggle the pin with some strong needle nose pliers and finally break it off, then you can use the regular torx key.

Thanks guys .. I though they looked like Torx bolt ,but the little raised bit in the middle threw me off.
It's ok to break it off then ?

You need a Torx security bit (size T25); they're just a couple bucks at Sears.
