Other Motorcycle: There are other bikes?
I had a bad Wednesday

I've been dreading writing this post. Not only did my SJ Sharks lose game 1 of the Quarterfinals, I had a major wreck on my way home after work. I was in the right lane doing about 45 MPH (also a carpool lane) and I had a car stopped in the middle lane pull quickly into my lane about 5 car lengths in front of me. I got on my brakes and aimed for the bike lane but ran out of space. He maybe got up to 10 MPH before we came together.

I walked away with minor road rash on my side (My jacket rode up when I went over the bars) some bumps and bruises and a trashed bike. I keep my ride in excellent shape and wear all the right gear just for such a freak occurrence.

Here are a few of the pics.

that side cover is just

Good thing you were wearing your gear. Hope you and your bike get taken care of. I don't know if I could have restrained myself from beating the piss out of the driver in the car.

After I checked myself to confirm I wasn't broken or leaking fluids, I jumped up, threw my helmet off and started towards the guy. He actually said "Calm Down". I had to tell him later that I wasn't going to fight him I was just mad as hell. He was scared in general - kept saying he thought he was having a panic attack.

I went by the accident scene on Friday and saw my skid was about the length of my car. I just had no time.

sorry man. Glad you weren't hurt worse.

On the bright side:

Looks like minor damage from where I sit, and a good opportunity to polish up all the covers on the bike. I think you could buff/sand/polish that alt. cover to where no one could ever tell it was damaged.

Looks like you ride with good gear. How'd the helmet hold up? I still call a crash you walk away from a good crash. I hope the insurance company gets funds to you so you can get the bike on the road soon.

Sorry to hear about your crash and very glad to hear your healthy. We've had too many go the other way.

Its a good reminder to us when we pass stopped traffic in the next lane. I call them "lane jumpers" and I often forget and pass too quickly.

Helmet did great. I didn't hit with it, just slid on it. Still getting a new one just to play it safe.

I hit the ground on my ride side - hand, to elbow to shoulder to my back and sliding into the chain link fence. In my mind, I was ninja stealthy with the roll, but I doubt it looked that good.

Insurance will cover it. It's just that the bike was 6 months old - I don't really want it fixed, I want it unbroken.

That totally sucks.

Hopefully your insurance gets you all sorted out and back on your/a bike soon.
Good to see you came out ok.

put it this way if it was a yamaha R6 or the honda/kawasaki/suzuki equivilent it would look like a gutted mackeral and have 1000s of $ damage. And if it was a harley it would still be sliding down the road due to its momentum.
