Neutral Dummy Light

Hey guys - so after storing by bike for the winter, for some reason my neutral dummy light decided to stop working. The funny thing is, sometimes it will come up, except delayed. In other words, I'll pop it into neutral and then 2-3 seconds after it will come on, but most times it doesn't come on at all. Therefore I know it's not the actual bulb - and all of the other lights on the dash work fine.

Any ideas? Could it be a fuse?

Thanks

Not a fuse. The light and others would not work if that was the case.

Most likely the switch is sticky from being stored for a while.

It could work itself loose with use or it may need replacing.

Thanks Wombat - could you advise on where the neutral switch is? Is it housed within the clutch mechanism or is it exposed by the arm where I could get at it and tinker w/it.

Thanks for the help. I need to pick up one of those repair manuals describing where all this stuff is.

Not owning a twin, I cannot help you on that, but I am sure that someone more knowledgeable than I on 'twins' will jump in and advise you.

Thanks - now that I think about it the switch has gotta be behind the covers - there's no real "neutral" position on the actual shifter ... it's gotta be back there making it a little more invasive. I'll drop my the dealer and ask what's up.

Thanks

The wire for the neutral light indicator is on the right side of the motor next to the oil filter.Llook under the motor right belor the counter sprocket. The wire might have come loose.
