Accessory Exhaust

I am looking at getting TORS for my Thruxton and on my dealer's websote they have an exhaust called Triumph Accessory Exhaust marked down from $475 to $405. I asked the dealer if these were TORS and he said no, they different. He said the accessory exhaust is designed just for the Thruxton and sounds louder than stock but wont blow out your eardrums. They look just like TORS and are desribed like TORS, does the dealership just not know what he is talking about? Anyone know anything about them.

Thanks

Bear,

If it looks like crap, feels like crap and tastes like crap..............you can bet your life it is crap, or TORS in this case.

ozbon,
I take it you are not a fan of TORS. I have a Ninja with an FMF exhaust that is deafening loud. I want an exhaust louder than the stock, but not too loud.

The Triumph accessory exhaust is the TORS exhaust and they sound great not at all annoying but mellow. I will have a set of used TORS Thruxton mufflers for sale next week, cheap, as the left one has "poor" chrome, not scratched but not good
are you interested?

Bear, it was just a tongue in cheek reply. If they look, sound and are described as TORS, then they probably are,...........and it sounds like your dealer doesn't know sh1t from clay!!!!

I just got a set of Triumph part number A9608070 off road exhaust. Paid $408 from a dealer. For where I live, the type of riding, and the people I ride with, they are perfect. I'd believe this is the exhaust Triumph would have sold the bike with if the noise restriction laws weren't so strict. I now want to cover the labels indicating they are non-compliant with noise laws. The LEOs and/or annual inspection people would not waste their time harassing you for TORs noise emittance, but maybe if they saw the non compliance stamp.

I couldn't stand the wimpy sounding restrictive stock pipes. I can now hear them and the bike doesn’t feel like it's struggling at the top end. I installed the jets recommended by the Jenks guide. Better to be too rich than too lean.

loud is awesome and the stock exhaust is not loud. no matter what the stock pipes have got to go. it was the 1st thing i replaced on my machine. tors, which is what those pipes at that dealership are despite the fact that the guy that works there doesn't know it, are the minimum for volume in my opinion. don't be afraid of something a little louder like the preds or dominators. they are louder than tors but they have a great tone too. however tone still rates second in my world.
when my bike was in the shop last month they asked if they could start it up for a prospective customer so that he could hear the predators, this brought the parts guy out for a listen too since he is considering the preds for his bonnie. both of these 40-50 year old fellas liked what they heard. neither of them said it was too loud. there is also a saying about loud pipes saving lives and while i agree that if you are coming up on someone from behind on the highway it doesn't help a whole lot it does announce your presence in alot of other around town situations. i love being able to error on the side of caution with "loud".
