Fuel questions

I picked up my Thruxton the other day and I honestly never noticed that there is no fuel gage on it.
What should I expect to get out of a tank of gas ? I realize my fuel economy will get better after the engine is broken in, but I am just looking for a range.

The other question I had about fuel was what octane should I run as well ? The Owner's manual said 95 RON ???

Run 87 for daily driving
Get 112 to 120 miles on the tank before going to reserve.

Would a long trip 120miles round trip do any harm to the engine ? I read as much as I could find about "engine break in" I just picked up the bike the other day and wasn't sure if I should go that far this early ??

Thx for the octane/fuel range info

Other Motorcycle: right, i wish. . .
depending on how i ride, i usually hit the reserve between 80 and 100 miles. i've never had a problem finding gas after i hit the reserve--plenty left there. you just have to get good at flipping the valve on the fly.

1st 600 miles vary the speed stay below 5500 rpm
601 to 1000 vary the speed stay below 7000 rpm.
After 1000 good to go.

Was told the most important part was to vary the speed and not to hit the freeway and hold the engine at one contant speed during break in.

+1 for flogging. Seemed to have worked for me but everybody has a different opinion on thus one and I have never seen any good evidence to prove it.

100 miles beforoe hitting reserve is all I've ever been able to get. Just make sure when you pick it up, someone hasn't already put it on reserve for you.

hit reserve for the first time at 118 or so, so I concur with the above.

Also, my first tank of gas took me 90miles, I stopped to get fuel and only put in 1.7gal before it was full.... next tank was exactly 3.4 to 120 miles... crazy

+1 for varying below 600... wouldn't say below 5500 rpms, though that may only be because i've been above it already....
