Thumbs up Progress on the Sidecar

I posted over on the Twin Tech forum but since its going on my thruxton, I wanted to share some photos. I had a thread going a few weeks back on the hack but cant find it at the moment . Anyway, the pictures are on the link below. Its a work in progress but is coming along pretty good at this point. I hope to have the frame done up this week and the rig road worthy by the weekend. We shall see. I will post up some more pictures when the progress is going forward again.

Cheers,
Chans

Because the Thrux is quite a twitchy bike anyway you might want to consider fitting leading link forks. They're ugly but they are the one sure fire way to cure the wobbles.

I am not surprised.

A bike set up for solo riding is nothing like the setup needed for driving with a sidecar and vice versa.

A solo bike needs trail whereas a sidecar rig does not.

As Johnny said, a leading link or Earles fork front end will work great with a sidecar but will make the bike unsafe for riding solo.

Is the sidecar going to be a permanent fixture?
or will you be wanting to take it off and ride solo occasionally?

If you want the best of both worlds, I would suggest getting a heavy duty steering damper fitted to the Thrux.

Here are a couple of links that may help you:

Thanks for the tip on this. I am actually going to take the steering dampener off my wifes bonnie (she said she doesnt notice a huge difference with or withouth it) and put on the thruxton.

As for the sidecar and bike, I want to be able to take the hack off and ride the bike solo. So, its kind of going to be split 50/50 in regards to riding time.

Do you think a fork brace (like the ones sold at new bonnie or bellacoarse) would help at all? I cant afford to change out new forks etc at this moment so hopefully something will help with the wobble. Oh yes, today and I am going to re-measure everything and start from scratch......must figure it out!!

If Oregonthruxton managed to rig his sidecar without Earles forks, I'm sure you can as well. Good luck.

If you want to ride solo sometimes, forget the leading link forks.
Unless you want to swap front ends when you want to ride solo.

Here is another useful bit of info for you.
