She's Alive!

After being down for 7 weeks, I finally fired her up and SHE'S ALIVE and spittin' flames BWAHAHAHAHA! What started out as a simple job of replacing bottom stud bolts quickly grew out of hand and one thing led to another. The heads went to the machinist due to splitting the right side stud holder, so while there I had Cruz[Cruz Machine shop hot rod work only] port and polish the head as well as fix and weld up the broken stud keeper. So while I was at it I did a valve adjustment[shim replacement]. Everything was WAY tight. Exhaust #1-.15mm, #2-.11mm,#3.20mm,#4.12mm. The intakes weren't much better, #1-.03mm, #2.03mm, #3-.15mm, #4-.17mm[the only one I didn't touch since I set the intakes at .17mm and the exhaust at .27mm]. Since I had the Alt.cover off, I took the clutch cover off, replaced the clutch springs with heavy duty springs that I bought last year and sent the covers off to be powder coated since they were corroding badly after just 2yrs. So after all that B.S. I'd like to thank the academy for outstanding support of a luckless fool. 1. Ed H. for loaning me his '04 Gold Wing [I swear to gawd I will NEVER bad mouth a Gold Wing owner or their bike since I have a new found respect for riding her the last two COLD months]. 2.To DuckMan and Shiloh for giving up a couple of Saturdays to help with assembly, 3.To Sweat for loaning me his cam wrenches that I've been hogging for 7weeks[Jeff I'll mail 'em back but if you can wait a couple of weeks I'd like to meet up with you at Road Dog's place for a putt and to buy you a beer, I'll bring Duck and anyone else that wants to tag along] and last but not least my little honey, Neet, for allowing this insanity and money spending without so much as a peep, God luv her. Oh did I mention this all took place one week BEFORE my Ohlins arrived....like I always say, "If it wasn't for bad luck, uh-huh, I'd have no luck at all". [a tip of the Halto hat to Cream's "Born Under a Bad Sign"] But I think the results speak for themselves. Sorry to be so long winded but I had a lot to get that off my chest.

Anytime... It was fun helping and besides, someone had to keep you from going at the Thruxton with a sledge hammer

Weekend after next, I have the MSF thing to do so that weekend is out but any other time is fine as long as I can be the odd man out and bring the new toy

That's another project that's being worked on and when complete the cover will be coated too.
