I bought my 2004 Thruxton used. As is typical for a Hinckley Triumph, the pipes were already blue. Based on experience with my Thunderbird, Blue Job will tone it down but not entirely remove it (usually shrinks the spread down the pipe and turns the color more golden than blue). Seeing how the pipes are already blue, is there any reason I should remove the AI?

Removing the AI, air box removal and air filters result in performance gains. This has been pretty well documented here. How much the actual gains are, might be a subject of discussion.
The blueing is a good thing. You should leave it alone and just be proud that your bike has it.

While I understand the performance gains from air box removal and high filters (frees up the carbs), most of the posts I've read here suggest AI removal simply lowers the temp of the exhaust. The only real benefit I've seen reported is lessening the bluing by reducing the heat through the pipes. I own 4 Hinckley Triumphs (and 3 Meriden Triumphs), so I know all about blue pipes. I just don't want to take the time and minor expense removing the AI if it's not going to do anything for me. I'm interested in comments from others on the benefits of AI removal (beyond reducing bluing). Thanks!

The weight savings will make it faster offroad and lower the cg?
Sorry, just in one of those moods.
I think after the blueing occurs, there not alot of evidence that the labor is worth it. Certainly a less cluttered look.
