pretty ticked off

you know those little clamps for the crg mirrors that hold it on the bar end, big end for the bar little end for the plastic bushing on the mirror... well the threads just came right out! I know that aluminum can get stress cracks but come on! about 14k miles and then bam the thing just falls off. The threads came out on the screw like a slinky.

I'm sure CRG will replace the part under warranty. The good thing about these mirrors is that they're modular. Each piece can be replaced without having to replace the entire mirror. Give them a shout and they should take care of it. Shoot me an email if you need contact info.

Happened to me too.
I put in longer screws after chasing the threads.
Problem solved.

If it happens again, I'll heli-coil the hole.
Not cheaper, but stronger.

When installing, make sure you tighten the top screw first and then the bottom one.

I am going to call them and I bet they will replace it, if not free it should be cheap, I'll make the suggestion about the longer screw to them.

Just a longer bolt. The ones provided only grab 2 or 3 threads when installed, leaving about a 1/4" of unused threads. Though finding stainless socket cap screws in that length required a trip to a fastener warehouse (like Fastenal or Grainger), OSH didn't have stainless- just black oxide.
