billet intake question...

in about a month or so i am going to take the plunge and start doing performance upgrades on my thruxton. right now it is totally stock except for the bar end mirrors. what i am going to do is remove the airbox, air intake, throw on some predators and rejet. i was also thinking about putting on larger intakes but was curious if anyone else has done this and if there was any noticable gains?

any feedback is greatly appreciated! thanks!

the billet intakes are not worth it. You will see very little to NO gains with them. Save your money for other mods.

I switched back to the stock intakes after installing the Billet ones.
Liked it better... for now
I would invest in a fork brace before the damper. Amazing change
and, had to remove my damper because I put a full fairing on my Thruxton
and the NH damper hit the fairing bracket and the fairing.
i really did not feel a difference in ride quality.
I will eventually install the damper again but I need to modify the damper bracket.
Good luck with your project
JC

Different Opinion

Well aint that a kick, After reading of a bunch of guys spending hours with a dremel cleaning up the stock intakes to match them to the port & remove the restrictions caused be the phenolic spacers (on the Thruxton & newer 865 Bonnies) I decided to save myself some work (bad wrist) and bought Billet Intakes. Took a bit to fit them as I wanted to retain the spacers, but now that it's done, there is a noticeable improvement.

Now - we're not talking spin up the rear or wheelie popping difference, but it does pull harder all through the rev range & it starts to pull earlier.

So while a couple hundred bucks may be alot for a little improvement, I do believe there is something there to be had! Now add the FCR or Mikuni Flatslides and hold on, I've ridden a Thrux with the FCR and Staintunes & that was a very Noticeable difference
