Motoplan.co.jp

This past weekend I got to meet Motoplan's Stateside distributor at the Clubman's All British Show.
He had on display, his Thruxton with Carbon Fiber bodywork.

I'm not really into the carbon fiber look, but let me say the quality, fit, and appearance of these parts is phenomenal.

The Thruxton was pretty modified with all sorts of trick parts: bar end turn signals, BRM shorty reverse cones (which I'm pretty much sold on- they sound like an internal combustion butter engine), CRG levers, 40mm Mikuni carburetors, etc...

Check out http://www.motoplan.co.jp, then click the "Global" for their English version site. They offer quite a few Triumph parts, a lot of things for the Modern Classic range.

Here are some pics of the bike for those of you that are interested.

Bracketry for the fairing mount.

I thought I had taken a picture of the rearsets he has installed on the bike.
The rearsets have three preset adjustments, and actually move your feet up and back quite a bit. They look REALLY nice and well made. I have heard complaints that the Axljak and LSL rearsets don't really move your tootsies out of the way, and still drag a bit.

I didn't ask what rear shocks he was running, they looked like YSS at first glance... front suspension appeared stock, with adjuster knobs installed...

Here's a shot JCMoto posted of it (he's the guy running PAK Bikes and distributing for Motoplan)

That's my plug for JC at PAK Bikes, he's a really nice guy, and he has some really nice stuff to sell you.

Wow.
Thanks for the mention.
To answer a couple of your questions.
The Shocks are Bitubo with piggybacks. We have them but you can get it from herdan. Real nice guy and i enjoy talking to Heman all the time.
On our other carbon thrux we have the Works pro racers. mucho bucks but very nice
Front suspension is the
'works' spring kit. Which is sufficient.
The adjuster Knobs are from us. Comes in Red, black and natural
Here is a shot of the rearsets from Discacciati.
They are made for the Italian Thruxton cup racers and are allowed under the race rules. Gives you 1 to 2 inches extra clearance.
Adjustable up or down. Easy bolt on. You will need across over piece from the switch to the master pump but thats included in the set-up.
Comes in various colors

email me for more pictures or info
Thanks again for the props.

You're welcome JC.

Will those rearsets be available in other colors? I would prefer a natural clearcoated/anodized aluminum look.

I want to find out more about those carbs, but cannot seem to find much info at all about them. Went to the Mikuni website, and did not see that carb listed at all. Seen TMX series but no TMR. Even tried Googling it with just about no results. Where can you point use for facts about them? I like Mikuni, and I would love to find out how they compare to the 39mm FCRs. But info on these are looking kinda dim. Thx

I spoke to the Rep, Phil, over at Mikuni USA when we first started to carry this line of products from japan. Phil said the carb is more prevalent in europe and supported more in Germany and Japan then here. They would like to see this carb come to the American market but for some marketing decision they do not. So I liked the looks of the carb and liked the idea of the Accel pump.
I was also told by the techs in Japan that the "TMR carb characteristically will cover a wider range than FCR"
and
"will help increase the the lower and middle rpm power and torque much easier than FCR. it is a More aggressive more snappier feel."

I too did some search and found that most of the needles and jets can be found here through SUDCO. In fact when I first got the TMR I took it over to SUDCO and they said it has similarities to the HS or the HSR. Some of the jets and needles can be found at Honda dealers. There is also a company in germany that sells the TMR set up for the KTM.
www.mikuni-topham.de TMR-Info

If you would like a exploded view pictures and notes that I made during my research of the TMR I can email it to you.

Here is the actual Japanese TMR info. it's all in Japanese but with a little help from a translation tool online at SYTRAN
and some knowledge of Japanese i got a pretty good idea.

Here is a dyno chart from them

This is with using a stock air box and stock exhaust.

Bottom line for me was the neck snapping power this gave me out of the box bolt on. Pretty impressive.
I have never used a FCR or any other Aftermarket performance carb on my Thruxton so I can not compare the power difference
