TBS Cafe Modifications

I have a 98 TBS. I would like some suggestions for cafe modifications to my bike starting with the handlebars. What are my options? Are clip-ons better? What about the adjustable clubman handlebars? I like the current position but I never rode a TBS with clip-ons. I like the way they look when browsing this site. I don't want to put any bars on the bike that will end up denting the tank. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Changing to 'cafe' bars will change your riding position considerably.

I would be inclined to go for a set of clubman bars that can be mounted in the existing risers.
If you find that you do not like the lower riding position, this will be easier to change back to stock.
These would be my choice of adjustable bars:

Mounting clip-ons will require either modifying the headlight mounting tubes or dropping the forks in the triple trees and mounting the clip-ons above the trees.

That link takes me to a jpeg - do you have an address where I can purchase those bars? Thanks for the info. I really like the bars you suggested. Could I use the standered T-bird risers instead of the TBS risers to mount those bars? The TBS riser/stalk (not sure what it's called) is so high.

Thanks

Just delete the e4.jpg off the end of the link to get to the home page.

There are other similar bars around but that is just one source.

I agree that the TBS risers are a tad tall and probably risers from a Tbird or a Speed3 might be a better bet.

It may not matter if you get the adjustable raasks, but watch your tank clearance if you're getting clubman-style bars. A regular set of (inverted) clubmans with the lower TB risers will almost certainly hit your tank before the steering locks.

Just something to watch out for. HTH.
