Nice! Dryer is still there and you are right. Let's just say 465 is no better than Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May and I am talking about on the track. It will be awhile before I venture onto the loop unless in a large group of riders in the Riley Miracle Ride or the "loop ride". You have to go 70mph just to stay with traffic. Ridiculous!!!

The stock mirrors no matter how I have adjusted them give me no sight. I see my arms an shoulders so I am not sure they are offering much.

I will take your advice and try it out though. Well, at least a soon as it finally decides to stop raining. Kind of a bitch really.

The motorcycle is my gift from me to me for quitting smoking... My would be 5 minute smoke breaks have turned into 30 minute rides

With all of the rain I have been having withdrawls.

Hi RGood!

I never had the stock chrome mirrors but I'm about to score a pair. What I have now are black flat-glass round mirrors with pretty long stems. I'm going to try the stock mirrors and see if I can see more than my upper arms. I'll let you know what happens.

When I bought my red Honda from Dryer's, pop Dryer was still alive and around. He was a character from the really old days, before WWII, and I remember hearing that he'd invented an articulated sidecar - so the motorcycle would lean when you went around corners. I think he and his son Junior built race cars too, maybe midgets or larger cars. It was a pretty famous family.

I went to school in Bloomington, didn't do worth a ****, then left for California and never came back for more than a few days. I gotta say: I have always kinda missed Bloomington. I worked for Fox's Cycle Sales there and for the old Honda shop, Stewart's Speed-Sport out in Ellettsville.

Especially if you haven't done a ton of riding, RGood, please don't sacrifice rear vision for style. You don't want to take your eyes off the road in front of you for more than an instant, and you want to see as much as you can of what's back there when you do look in your mirrors. Blind spots are bad in a car but they're worse on a m/c.

I'll be in touch thru the forum about the stock mirrors. Maybe they ARE useless... your friend Maynard

Manic Salamander bar end weights

Hi RGood!

I've ridden the bike with the Manic Salamander bar-end weights and no doubt the bars feel less buzzy. The aftermarket mirrors I'm using still buzzed so that I could not see clearly in them. I will try the stock Triumph mirrors, which are twice the weight, and see if they're better.

So - if you don't use bar-end mirrors, try the Manic Salamander weights. They have an installation kit just for Thruxtons. Easy as can be.

I'll write again once I've tried the stock mirrors...

Take care, Maynard
PS Are you going to the MotoGP?

Hey Maynard,
I have actually ordered the Napoleans as I found them at a pretty good price online. So I will have the choice between the stock or naps once I get them and try them out. I was able to sample the naps on a friends ducatti monster and was pleased with the rear site I got on his bike. I can only imagine I will be just as pleased on my Thrux.

I would like to go to the MOTOGP, as it is the first year for it here in Indy. We lost the F1 race so they had to make upf for it, while I am a true Hoosier and May born. I shy away from the Indy 500 and always find myself at the Brickyard 400. Would you belive the NASCAR crowd is less rowdy than the 500 crowd? No snake-pit any more.

You know even though Pop-Dryer sold Hondas he was always known for being on a BMW? Kind of funny.

I can't wait to see what the mirrors do to the astetics of the bike as well as increase rear vision... Now I want the Webed sprocket cover and I want to eliminate the rear fender. Very similar to this bike
NOT MINE BTW, Just a phot I enjoy looking at oO(Wonders if this person is a forum member?)

I think once I do those two things I will be happy! Oh yea and these gauge pods that a TRAT memeber made...
http://www.triumphrat.net/club-cafe/...want-some.html

And a new brake fluid resevoir... and that's it.

No safety concerns with these mods.

I sound like Steve Martin in "The jerk" now... And this thermos, that's all I need, and this chair, I don't need anything but this thermos and chair, and this magazine and this........

Put that all on my bike and I think I will be ready to roll! Stock makes me darned happy too so either way, I WIN!
