What should be a reasonable price for a 2008 Thrux?

I am in the market for the 08 Thruxton but I feel that I am getting "dicked" around by my dealer on the final OTD cost. What would be a reasonable OTD cost of a new 08? I don't feel like doing business with them but living in the great Utah state it is my only option unless I feel a need to visit Vegas. Any help would be great thanks.

I paid 8200 for my 08. It was the first one the dealership got ordered just for me. I didn't have to leave a deposit since they kinda needed one in the showroom anyway and so they ordered it in the color I wanted.

I'm not really sure 8200 is a good price but hopefully others will give their input. This was my first motorbike purchase.

Well beings that I am being quoted at $9800.00 I think you got a **** good price. If you don't mind me asking what state did you purchase it in? Thanks

Dealers aren't out there to be your friend. They can make more money off of some people then they can others.

When I bought my 06 the first quote I got was $9,000 without taxes included. I walked out the door at $7,200 after taxes.

Play the dealers against each other. One thing you can do that will piss them off to no end is to tell them you are shopping bikes and are not into haggling. Ask them to give you their absolute lowest price. Tell them you don't have time to negotiate so you are going to all the dealers and getting one price and will go with the lowest one. Don't let them sell you on any of their BS "value adds". After they tell you their price, thank them very much and say that you've gotten a better quote from a competitor. If they don't let you walk out the door then you know you've got them. Make sure to remind them that they didn't listen to you when you asked for their lowest price but give them another shot. You're not going to make any friends with this type of negotiation tactic but you will get the best price. I did this to the dealer I bought my bike from and "let him" lower his price 3 times before I agreed.

Lastly...don't be afraid to walk out the door...

Out of curiosity what State do you live in?

MSRP on a Thruxton is $8000.
I'd never pay more than MSRP for a vehicle, but I'm not disappointed when I can't get too much off either. It's a business, and they're entitled to a profit, just not a ridiculous profit.
I've heard of "boutique" dealers asking more than MSRP, but 9800 is too much. What are they saying you're getting for the extra 1800 bucks?

First of all thank you for all that have responded so far...I live in Utah and as the dealer broke the price down for me:

Bike $7999.99
Transportation fee $450.00
Assembly fee $450.00
the balance was tax and licensing

I think that the transportation fee and assembly fee is BS on the bike since on all remaining 2007 models those are "included" in the 7999.99 price tag.

You guys are lucky you're in the States, and not here in Australia. The prices here are set by Triumph and the dealer's will not budge. Sounds like price fixing to me, but the next nearest dealer is 800Km away so basically we are stuck with the one we've got.

I just bought an 08 Thruxton for AUD$13900 so I reckon that is about $11000 of your dollars. Wish I was over there to get one........

last august I went to my local dealer in E Hartford Ct (USA)
i told him I had a roll of $ in my pocket and wanted to purchase a speed Triple and 2 675s that day
he would not give me an "out the door" price and wanted to "talk" about extras and options. he finally told me that he would discount each bike $500 then added in $450 freight, $400 set up, $250 doc fee , + taxes and rgistration, to each: I left
I went to another dealer in Mass and got $1000 off each bike, no freight, no set up, $25 document fee
the first dealer called me the following day to ask if I was interested in his "deal' he was surprised to learn that I was very serious and had already purchased the bikes
KEEP LOOKING

Every dealer is different

Just bought an 08 about 1 1/2 months ago. I won't go into details because I recently posted a thread when I bought the bike about where I bought it and the excellent service I recieved so I don't want to "sell them out". Suffice it to say that they can be had for under 8K OUT THE DOOR (TT&L included). Find another dealer if the one you are working with won't deal.

Houston dealers wanted me to pay close to 9K for an 08 then TT&L on top of that. Another dealer NEAR Houston would sell me an 07 for $7200, then wanted me to pay another $450 for destination and $300 for assembly and setup or something ridiculous like that which again took me close to 9K after TT&L.

Suffice it to say I went to another city and visited 3 more dealers until I found my "deal-er".

if you can find a brand new 2007 thruxton i would jump on that instead of spending the extra $$$ on an '08. there is virtually no difference between the two bikes, aside from cosmetics, ie: the '08 had a black engine, and black headlight mounts, and the gas tank looks a tad bit bigger due to the face that they are now made to house the fuel pump for the fuel injected models that are avail in europe. you can validate this by putting your hand under the tank on an '08 and feel the big open space underneath where the fuel pump goes.

essentially, here in the states it just comes down to cosmetics. i personally think it's ridiculous to get an '08 if there are still '07's to be had. they are the same bike, and you can score some nice deals on an '07.
