His and hers

Just joined the forum tonight.I've been a fan for a long time though. We've had lots of older Triumphs and have been considering getting a modern Triumph since the twins came out for 2001.After reading all the positive comments about them on the forums I started looking for a good deal on a Bonneville for my wife, since I just bought a new left over '04 Moto Guzzi V11 Ballabio last fall for myself.I had been riding a great old $200 '72 Guzzi Eldorado since 1992!We finally found a super deal a couple of months ago at Bucks Motosports in Akron,New York.Real nice people, and the only bikes they sell are Triumphs, which I thought was pretty cool. The prices were so good I got a Thruxton along with the Bonnevile.A black and red '07 T100 for her and a new left over yellow '06 Thruxton for me.These are beautiful machines. They're both in the house waiting for spring, and I look at them all the time.I know I'm going to miss seeing them in here. They've both only been run for ten seconds or so since getting them. We're going to remove the air injection, get mufflers.jets and air filters before running them. We've got our personal plates coming,BONNE for my wifes and THRUX for mine.I'm fifty-something so I'm not sure how I'll hold up on the clip-ons,but I'm going to give them a try.If they're unbearable I'll go with one of the top clamp kits available. The Bonneville has Triumph city bags and a chrome seat rail on it now, with a chrome cam cover and maybe a windshield next. The Thruxton only has the rubber tank pads on it now but I want to get the factory solo seat, some black side panels and different tank badges. Both have the reflectors removed, and the goofy looking knee guards came off my bike.I cut the front portion off from the fork guards on both bikes for a major improvement. They came out real nice using a utility knife and a fine file.Only cut myself once! Those things bugged me every time I looked at the bikes and one night after a couple of beers I took care of them. What a difference such a simple thing made. Thanks to everyone on the forum for the inspiration and as soon as we get a new camera we'll get some pics on here.We love looking at all of your bikes and mods.

Congrats!!

Just recently bought my wife a Thruxton and she loves it. I really like it myself too. Nice to see other women enjoy riding. Get some pics up, we always like seeing them.

Regards,

Spellbound

Roll on the spring time riding weather! BTW, if you've cut away the fork protectors I'd seriously consider fitting gaiters. One major stone chip and it's rechrome time! Plus, they look nice 'n' traditional.

Cheers Johnny

good taste in bikes!

I bought a new Eldorado in '74' and then in '75' I moved on to an 850 Interceptor. Man, I loved those bikes! I'm now on my second Triumph TBS and think I'm a Triumph man for the long haul now. By the way, I not only like the same bikes, I'm also about the same age, 55. Good luck holding out for spring, I don't think I could do it with two new bikes waiting to be broke in. Happy trails.
