Did I miss something? bar end mirrors

I just bought some lovely napoleon bar mirrors... very nice. Went to fit them... took of the bar end... ***? are my clip ons solid? Have I missed the part where people have said they had to change clipons to put these bars on? are my bars annoyingly unique??

advise please, my bars seem solid with just a thread big enough to thread the bar end screw... I don't get why I didnt know this, I'm pretty good at reading up...

They're not solid. The have a disc (of sorts) welded in them so you can bolt on the mirror or a bar end.

Can you not use the stock bolt that held the cap in place for the one on the Napoleons?

I bought the Napoleans too and had to do some mods to make them work. first I cut off the part that is covered by the rubber boot (it has the notch on it). I then bolted them on with the stock bolt and it actually held but I didn't figure it would last long. So I drilled the existing hole bigger with a 1/4" drill bit and threaded the new hole with an 8mm tap/die. I bought new 8mm bolts that were quite a bit shorter than the ones supplied and had a smaller unthreaded part. Once the new hole was threaded I applied some loctite on the new bolt and bolted it on. Has worked thus far and is surprisingly solid. I get a nice view out of it without much vibration distorting the image. That's what I did, and can take/post pics if you like.

oh crud... I don't have a garage/workshop. I park out on the street and all my work is streetside. I use the bike everyday. I'm a bit startled about how I'd never heard about eh mod to have to use these, and new bonnieville supply without any notification... I've been waiting for these for ages as It came with my rear fender mod and all the other cosmetic jobs I wanted to do... perhaps buying different clips would be easier..sigh.

Man, parking on the street ... no garage .... streetside repairs? Thats tough man. Try getting in touch with London RATs to see if someone will let you use their space.

You may take a look at this workaround for fitting napoleon's to the stock TBS bar, which has threaded lugs in it as well, might give you some ideas?

+1 on the hacksaw

That's what I did. It's a fifteen minute job, tops. Changing the clip-ons would take...a wee bit longer.

What is the bolt size I should use to replace the original bar end bolts when fitting Napolian mirrors?
