I've got an oil kit, Now what?

Okay, I bought my bike used so I don't have a manual. I'm going to buy the oil change kit from New Thruxton http://www.newthruxton.com/html/oil_change_kit.html

Is there any other maintenance that I need to do? Its my 3K change. I plan on checking the tire pressure, lights etc... Anything else? chain? spark plugs? I dunno, any help would be great.

Do the oil and filter change, and me - I'd check for loose or broken spokes, check the air box (if it still has one) for oil accumulation from the crankcase breather, clean, lube and adjust the chain, check the brake pads for abnormal wear, since the bike is used if its been 2 years since the production date then I'd bleed out the brakes good and get fresh fluid in there. Give the nuts and bolts a check up with a torque wrench. Check, clean or change the air filter(s) depending on what you have. Check tires and pressure ( I check pressure before every ride). I'm probably missing something but this will get you started.

Anybody know the torque value for the oil plug? Are there any other points that require a torque wrench to be used during a routine oil change?

Thanks.

You don't need to torque the drain plug to any specific value. Just get it tight.

Spin the plug down finger tight, then put a wrench on it and with moderate pressure turn it until just past the point of where it stops. A little more than a 1/2 turn from finger tight. You'll feel the drain plug washer crush a little as you tighten the plug.

Good deal. Thanks for the input guys. I'll buy the manual for the 6K check.
