Post Register in CA???

My '05 Bonnie is not going anywhere and nor am I. CA says that you need 7,500 miles on your bike to register it here. Anyone know where I can get a speedo with 7,500 miles or more to replace my "broken" speedo?

Or any suggestions?

I am originally from the east coast and upon moving to CA, it blew my mind to hear this rule.

I've checked ebay, but it seems like I can only find new speedometers. Perhaps I am searching wrong.

I wonder if any motorcycle speedo will work or if it has to be a, '03 - present bonneville or thruxton speedo

Thought about it... Cordless drill should take me about 48 hours of work with a 5000 rpm minimum drill. HELL!

Second shot is a speedo place. But Bonne speedometer is cased in plastic attached to metal. 50/50 chance that it breaks the plastic when taken out. I don't want to risk a $400 loss for this if it breaks.

Exemption

I believe you can get an exemption if moving from out-of-state. I'd contace the DMV personally.

I've modified mine or I'd be willing to lend it to ya, perhaps someone else close to your destination may be willing.

Other Motorcycle: There are other bikes?
Ride out your mileage THEN contact the DMV.

Is that 7500 miles due to CARB rules and otherwise you would need to modify it to Ca/Carb standards to register it?
