Yes. It's designed to keep people from bringing in vehicles from other states that don't have our smog laws.

I always call it "California Emissions Bull $#!#".

You guys all get the same vehicle - 49 state emission vehicles

We get restricted flow because apparently motorcycle emissions are destroying the atmosphere and our environment at an alarming rate.

I couldn't register my Ramcharger because it failed smog, despite having a new engine and emissions equipment. It started everyday, ran, drove, and towed perfectly, and got a respectable 14mpg (for a carbureted 5.9L V8), but it didn't do it clean enough. Then Kalifornia offered to purchase it from me for a LOUSY $500 so they could junk it. It's worth $3500 everywhere else IN THE WORLD (probably more than $3500 in some places), and is a PERFECTLY good vehicle!

Just to spite them, I've since changed it's registration to off highway only and disabled the SMOG crap. Now it gets 6 or 7 mpg, makes tons of noise, and I HAVE to drive it off-road and tear up our forests.
It's Kali's fault, they made the problem worse, they didn't have to be so strict.

I HATE Ka/CARB. **** THEM. Stupid oppressive ****s.

BAMA, you had better like jumping through hoops. It's a ****in circus in this state when it comes to vehicles.
Traffic, carpool lanes, CARB, metering lights, double standards, inclusions, exceptions, exemptions, fees, fees, and more fees.

I have a speedo from an 05 bonnie black that I don't need, I'll go check the mileage on it.

Basically, CA just has this emissions rule where you're bike needs to have a 50 state emissions sticker on it or else it has to have more than 7,500 miles on it.

A few years ago (2001) I was looking at buying a new Hellcat with a 130 ci Merch motor. CA told me that engine was too big for a bike to be registered new in the state and I was going to have to have the same 7500 mile BS before I could register it here.

I am having a hard time grasping the idea that you cannot buy a new vehicle and have it registered. 7500 miles seems to be about the time the smog crap would start to fail.

Yet another reason to NOT live in California.

It's not that you can't buy a new vehicle, but that it must have California emissions.

I must admit I never have heard of the 7500 rule - bull cr@p to say the least, but there are ways to go around it.

If you are having a problem registering it in California, just have it registered elsewhere and transfer the title when you get the appropriate mileage. There are a few companies that specialize in this as well I have heard some states will do it over internet.

This is very hard to say because I know many Triumph riders hate riding, but go out there and put the mileage on.
