1998 tbs, excellent bike. has 29000 miles on it, brilliant silver overall, i give it 8.5/10. i am 5'10", 200lb, bike is cafe'd out, bars, pipes etc.
i have green cams, custom exhaust work, rejetting etc,. Signifigant increase in power, still absolutely reliable.
the only failures have been throttle cable (2x)! already. i just had the alternator impeller bolt come off, and thats it.
i have taken it on 500 mile days, race up and down local mountain roads, wife to dinner, you name it, it does it well.

i bought this bike almost as a goof, but it has turned out to be one of my all time favorites. i change bikes more often than is probably rational, but this one has missed the chopping block several times, i may keep this one forever.

it IS a ***** to do anything on this bike involving airbox removal, which is just about everything, and getting that throttle cable end situated on the carb is a job designed by satan himself.

i keep going in and looking at the thruxton, but i think i need the triple, it makes the best exhaust noise, ever, period.

18,400 miles
9/10
6'/ 195 lbs.

Fixed alternator bolt at 16m
drilled out stock mufflers only 3/4" holes
centerstand, flyscreen, front wheel mudguard, chrome valve cover, Gel battery, replaced all 3 coils w/nologys.

To me; the looks of this bike stock, are stunning. Handles, accelerates wonderfully. Starts instantly, beautiful exhaust note out of the twin side stock mufflers that are the trademark of this timeless classic.

Ha! I love these reviews. We all belong to a cult gents!

Year: 2004
Color: Black & Yellow
Mileage: 5500 km
Overall Rating: 9/10 (she only gets a 10 if I sleep with her!)

Modifications: Triumph sissy bar/rack, Napoleon screw in mirrors, Memphis Shades Shooter windscreen (thanks Idahotb :chug: ), fabulously expensive plastic chrome radiator guard - what's with the plastic Triumph????

(optional): 5' 8" more than 160 pounds

Problems / Resolutions - Gas tank is too small. I fill at about 200km, which gives me some reserve. And the TBS is a looongg bike, making parking lot maneuvers interesting. Care is required not to end up in some embarrassing situation for sure.

Owner Review: I love the bike. I went on a ride with the Island RAT group after I had the bike about a week, after a break in riding of about 10 years. I rode about 600km that Saturday. When I got home I was tired (well Duh! :-D ) but I wasn't sore!. So the TBS fits me like a glove. And she's pretty, I've heard that word more than once. Awesome bike.

She's not the fastest bike on the road, but there is plenty of power to do anything I need or want to do on the road. And she's very quiet, which isn't what everybody wants, but turns my crank. The handling is great, and as I get more comfortable with her I know she won't let me down in the corners. I know I'm the limiting factor about how fast we go, not the TBS.

I expect the TBS to be in my driveway for a long time to come!

Other Motorcycle: 2000 Triumph TBS
I've had a TBS since April 2000. My first TBS, a red 99 was wrecked 6 years ago on Cambie and 7th in Vancouver BC.
My second TBS is a white and orange 2000. I LOVE these bikes!!! I've yet to ride a bike that is such a good all arounder. I can ride with sportbike guys and not be too embarrassed, I can do 600+ miles a day in complete comfort, it handles very well, has all the suspension adjustments I could ever use, looks great sounds great and fits in at ***** near any bike event I've ever gone too (not that that is a concern for me, just an observation.)

I've made a few mods to it inclusding a Scotoiler, "off-raod" Triumph mufflers, K&N filter (purely for economic reason-cheaper than an OEM replacement) bar end mirrors and I've added a second horn.
This bike makes gobs of torque and power at almost anywhere in the rev range. It runs 8.5 on the 1/8 mile. It'll cruise at 160 kph all day with breaking a sweat. The only gripe is I wish I had better fule econmy or a bigger tank AND the bike can be a little top heavy. I am a hard person please and this bike has been with gfor a long time.

This is my second TBS - My first was a Yellow and Black '99. For me, the TBS is a great fair-weather cruiser. My other bike is an '05 BMW GS which is my commuter and general solo transportation.

I am not that aggressive a rider anymore - I have finally have learned to respect the dangers of motorcycling. But that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the taught suspension, good acceleration, and fantastic sound of the motor in combination with the TORs. My only issues are the seat is a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours and the pegs are a little high. But I'll survive. I have owned alot of bikes over the years and finally I think that I have a perfect complementary pair that covers all my moods.

Alright... Alright...... Uncle!

year: 2000
color: White/Orange (try to lick my creamcycle)
milage: ~ 31kmi
rating: 9/10... I'd give it a 10 but for some of the engineering quirks on Triumph's part that make some maintenance jobs triple in length and leave you scratching your head saying "***?". But then all my favorite cars have had that same problem. I dunno..... It is a MOTORCYCLE in the purest sense. It is amazing all around. It is my seventh owned bike and 1 of only 2 that I would buy again and again if I could. This one will never be sold. (Vittoria)

mods:
Not a whole lot, but just enough for me. I'll probably add on as years go by but who knows.

- Tail bob - moreso than stock by about half.
- smaller oval tail lamp
- signals lamps changed out to lower profile all around
- slightly lower bars
- crg bar end mirrors (god i love these - rock solid)
- couple extra pieces of engine chrome
- race pipes and rejetted, shimmed for those (best exhaust note in existence)

I think that's it.

Problems: the numbskulled engineering decisions I deal with now and again. Currently the chain guide is about worn through and to get at it on some years you've got to take out of the fly wheel... or become very creative. Search on this you'll see... or you already know. I won't get into details. Problems really are few.

This is one of the only bikes I've taken out for a first ride and knew within seconds that I was buying it... It became a serious dilemma deciding between staying on the test ride for hours and turning right back around to tell him "I'll buy it." Loved it at first ride. (well... and sight for that matter.. heheh)
I've come from the land of shafts and returning to chain is a bit bothersome to me even besides some of the benefits. But that's neither here nor there.
The TBS is just a fine machine. So much personality inside and out. Powerband is FAT and FLAT - love it. Torque low and torque high and not too much anywhere. The sound... did i mention the SOUND?? Stock seat is alright but more than an hour and it's rear-end sleepy time.

I'll fit a center stand someday. May go crazy in another round of mods but maybe not.

Love the bike.
