Does anyone know of aftermarket short front fenders? I deleted rear fender, now I sort of am thinking that the front should be shorter.

Oh, I'm 5'11", 160 lbs and love the fit so far.

Thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure you can get a shorter one from PJ's Glass Fibre out of the UK, or you can purchase a used one off of fleabay and whack it yourself. Congrats on the bike, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks; Sure I'm going to enjoy it. I'll check out PJ's.

Year: 2008 (EFI)
Color: Silver w/Red Stripe
Mileage: 10K km
Overall Rating: 9/10

Modifications: FEK, Predators, ARK, SAI removal, O2 removal, TTP #11, PR3 110/150, lowered seat

Owner Height/Weight: 67"/160 lbs.

Problems / Resolutions: Only problem so far was finding an appropriate tune after installing the Preds, ARK, and doing the SAI/O2 removal. I tried several of the free maps available (4 in all) before purchasing Tune #11 from TTP, which works fantastic. Much thanks to PieMan.

Owner Review: I have wanted a Thruxton ever since I started riding, but wanted to get some seat time/experience under my belt before taking the plunge on a scoot this nice. I was not dissappointed. This bike is a blast to ride, handles great (especially after swapping the Metzlers for PR3's), and has plenty of power for my riding abilities and comfort zone. Man, the sound of those Preds...freaking awesome! I am thankful that I lowered the seat height (reduced padding) since I am short; I think I would have had issues while stopped on the wet Okinawa roads with the stock seat height (very slippery). If I had one complaint, it would be the second gear on my bike. My second gear is very touchy and sensitive to any type of throttle manipulation, which causes me to feather the clutch much more than I am used to in that gear. Maybe that is just me, though, and I am either imagining things or just need to work on improving my riding style so that it isn't an issue. Not that big of a deal, IMO. All in all, owning this bike has been a dream and I would recommend it to anyone! Cheers!

Its underpowered in the sense that overtakes need to be planned more carefully now as the power isnt available instantly.

Is it really that bad?

It depends on what you are used to. My last bike was a Street Triple so yeah the weight hike and power drop is huge.

No.

In the day-to-day real world, the power is fine. It makes useable torque down low and is faster than probably 99% of the cars you have to deal with on your commute. It should run mid-13s in a 1/4 mile and, from what I've read (sorry, looking for a source to cite), you can knock a second off with pipes and air box/filter mods.

Think of it this way it's a "classic 60's platform and would have been considered rocketship if it was actually available back then. It would have been about even with the Norton Comando 750 and 850 and would also have compared well to a stock early/mid 70 CB750.

According to Cycleworld October 2012 it runs 12.94 in the 1/4 stock. No doubt it is far slower than most sport bikes, but I agree it's still a whole lot faster than most cars or the average Harley. It's all relative to what you're used to. Coming off an 04 VFR 800, I'll say it takes some getting used to, but it is by no means "slow."

Question

So, I'm thinking of having the bike painted, to make it more "mine". I'm going to show my laziness here, but does anyone know if the "chrome" (plastic) Triumph logos on the tank are glued on or do they have a rivet in the tank?
Thanks.
