Year: 2006
Color: Yellow w/ checkers
Miles: 3000
Carb Jets: 140 110 (Before the upgraded pipes they were 42 40)
Rider: 5'8" 160 lbs
Mods: D&D pipes, air box removed and K&N filters installed, Rizoma Grips. I also have bags---i think they are for the Bonny, but they look real nice too.
This bike is super sexy. Seems that all riders, fast small bikes to big Harley's, blue collar to white collar, all stop to take a second look and ask questions. The D&D pipes give it a real nice sound and goes well with the retro look. It is a joy to ride.
Problems/Issues: This ride takes some time to get warmed up in the mornings. Perhaps that is a problem with all bikes. The rear tire (Metzler) likes to slide out on occasion on tight turns.
Overall: A

it's cool
Year:05
Color:blue
Mileage:4000
Overall Rating:9
Modifications:125 main, 40 pilot, 1 shim, air hole opened, 2 3/4 out on airscrew, TORS, unifilter, polaris bellmouth, Hagon shocks, progressive springs, Thunderbird Sport flyscreen, crankcase vented past rear fender, raised clip ons (Tarrozzi), hand grips,
me: 58 years, 150 lbs, 5'7"
Problems / Resolutions: paint is "bubbling" around inside of fuel filler cap; scrapped it off and repainted with clear, so far so good
Owner Review:this thing is great fun, it's fast and very smooth, mileage could be better, I have my BMW for touring and my Speed Triple for speeding, my T140 is a great all around ride, the Thruxton is just great for "messing around" it's so good I also bought 2 675s

Year: 2007 with a 2006 paint job (this was the last one the dealer had and i got a nice deal on it, bought new).
Color: caspian blue w/checkers
Mileage: 140 miles!!!
Overall Rating: this is my first and only bike i have ever ridden, so i don't know any better, but i love it so far.
6'2". 180 lbs.
no ergo problems aside from the expected wrist soreness which goes away after a day of riding. i am used to riding fixed gear track bikes with drop bars and time trials bars (used to be a bike messenger in nyc) so this position is actually sort of natural for me.
Problems / Resolutions
i just cant get over the engine noise for some reason, and i know stock people complain that these bikes are too quiet! triumph recommends not going over 4000 rpm for the first 500 miles, and i just cant imagine going much higher that that after the break-in. it just sounds to me like it is going to explode! i am sure this is just the way these bikes sound, and have friends who's sport bides redline at 14,000 rpm!
Owner Review:
like i mentioned above, this is the only bike i have really everr ridden, aside from the kawasaki enduro i rode in my motorcycle class. i had never been on a bike previously as a driver or passenger. working in a busy trauma center and dealing with a lot of head injuries related to motorcycle accidents pretty much scared me away from getting a bike, (no helmet law here in CO), but about over a year ago i picked up a buddy from the triumph/ducati dealer here in town after he dropped off his 999 to get serviced, and immediately fell in love with the thruxton. i really wasn't a motorcycle person at all, am not into sport bikes and a harley really doesn't do it for me, but the thruxton just stood out for some reason. after that day i said that i would own one one day, and about a year later (this december) i went down to the dealer on a day when it was snowing and checked them out. three days later i bought their last 2007 thruxton in blue, with a 2006 paint job, which is exactly what i wanted. (initially wanted black, but the blue is definately growing on me) and i love the checkers. i have only put about 110 miles on the bike so far, and it has been nothing short of amazing and one of the most intense experiences i have ever had (and i have ice climbed, alpine climbed, been a bike messenger, etc), but this definately has been the most fun. i am eagerly awaitng getting past the break in period so i can open it up a bit and see it's true potential. yesterday was my first day on the highway, and took a ride to golden, co from denver, and got up to 80 mph (yes, i broke the 4000rpm rule, i know), and have no complaints. i don't know what a super stable, modern bike feels like, so maybe that's better in my case to not know any better? who knows.
whenever i park it somewhere there are people standing around it when i return. usually "older" guys asking what year it is, and are sort of shocked that it's a 2007 and someone my age is riding it instead of a modern sport bike. then they start talking about how they had a bike similar to it before i was even born! i really like that and fele like, in some way i am riding a piece of history. i really think that i did well getting this as my first bike. it's bad ass to look at, gets attention from all kinds of riders and non-riders, and has a ton of personality. i almost decided to get a speed triple, but figured it was way too much much bike for me too soon, and didn't have the personality the thruxton has. so far i am stoked on this bike and can wait for nicer weather so i can ride it all the time.
aside from a couple cosmetic mods like bar end mirrors and a fender eliminator kit i really don't plan on doing any other mods, aside from new pipes at some point.

Year:2005
Color: Caspian Blue w/checker stripe
Miles:3000
Overall:8.5
Me: 6'2" 180lbs
Mods: TORs, JARK(johnsairboxremovalkit), 140 mains, 1 shim, 40 pilots, wrapped head pipes, no AI
Pros: Well.... look at it! I bought this bike without test riding it. After months of searching when I came opon this thing sitting in the show room, I think my jaw hit the floor. This thing just stands out like no other bike on the market. Love the sound of the TORs, not too loud not too tame. Very fun in the corners.
Cons: Brakes could be upgraded, stock rear Metzler slides a little on hard corners, riding position not very comfy on long rides(i am 6'2" though) valve train a little noisy.
I love this bike. The riding position can be fixed with some bars. Brakes can (and will) be upgraded. And once that rear Metzler is worn out it will be replaced with some Avons. The valve train is a charactoristic of the bike as is the riding position. Other than the previously mentioned items, I wouldn't trade this bike for the world.

Year: 2007
Color: full Red
Mileage: 2100km (1300miles?)
Overall Rating: 9/10
Modifications:bar-end mirrors, FEK, TORS now (Predators next week ), AI removed
Problems / Resolutions: none
Owner Review: My last bike was K4 1000GSXR with ~170hp. Thruxton has ~70hp. Thruxton beats GSXR 6 - 0 !!! It's so much more fun to ride. And it sounds cool with TORS but will sound better with Predators
I dont need more hp, so the exhaust and jetting is only mods i'll do.

Great Thruxton Info!!
I have an 07 Bonnevile, which I pimped up a bit and LOVE....I'm considering buying th 08 Thruxton as a second bike, primarily for around town....love the way it looks and sounds...I haven't seen the 08 "aluminum" livery in person...has anyone else? I'm leaving the exhaust stock on the Bonneville but, I think, I'd like to add a little power to the Thruxton when I get it....any suggestions....all your photos are fantastic and, after reading your praise, my mind is made up.....now, tell me about the aluminum paint job, what to do about the exhaust and who has the best price in Florida!!?? Cheers and thanks again - reems

Clarification...
One question:many of you mention the "AI"...or removing the AI....apologies in advance for not knowing, but what is the AI, which you all are so keen on getting rid of?

Initial Thruxton Thoughts
Year: 2008
Color: Silver
Miles: 8
Mods: Mirrors and rear reflector removed
First, this is a beautiful bike and my first non-Japanese bike after 20 years of riding. Silver is definitely the best color for this bike (this year anyway). Almost everyone gets black but if they saw this color in spring sunlight then I think Triumph wouldn't be able to sell any black models. It just doesn't "pop" in the showroom or on Triumph's website or printed ads.
My initial thoughts from riding it home is that it desperately needs to breathe better. The exhaust sounds horrible, not befitting what should be a proud and throaty sounding machine, but I suspect that the airbox coupled with lean tuning is what is actually strangling this bike.
After coming from a highly tuned 1000cc inline four sportbike, it also feels like a Vespa in its accelerating capabilities, but I knew I wasn't buying a rocket ship.
I will suss out the handling this weekend, but my initial thoughts after riding on bumpy NYC roads are that it is underdamped, even for someone who is 5'9'' and 135lbs, and could use a fork brace.

Getting lots of looks is nice....but did you buy the bike for you , or your ego?
I'm not really reading any concise reviews. These are way too subjective about how pretty it is. People are saying they bought the bike without knowing anything about it. If that is the case, lemme show you this steal of a deal on my old suzuki(ridden gently  )
When i cut through the fanboyism, this is what i'm seeing. Am i right or wrong here?

Sir, this is a Triumph forum. If you expect to read posts by people who are not fans of the brand, you are likely to be disappointed.

Tell him to buy a Gixxer, cuz he'll never understand.
P.S. - bout to turn 25,000 miles on mine, Runs better now than when it was new. No Problems at all, just a Ton-o-Fun!
