Hey guys, thinking about ordering this seat in black.( apparently it available...but I haven't been able to find any pics of the black version yet...been chatting with JP vintage through Facebook...they appear to be associated with moto trio)
It's supposed to be made for two up riding, while still having that cool retro cafe look.
The wife is chewing me a new one as I haven't ordered the triumph tandem comfort seat, but I just am not a huge fan of the styling...just looks a bit awkward to me, so this would be my two up seat only.
$250 usd plus shipping, which is 85 usd to Vancouver BC.

Facebook is the only way I've been able to contact them, they reply to private messages fairly quickly...(I suppose that depends on time differences though as they are based in Thailand) Little bit of a language barrier...not too bad though....as far as I can tell, they don't have any other pics available yet....but he tell me that black is available....Search JP vintage on Facebook and it will come up.
I have sent him a message saying I'd like to order it in black....il let everyone know how the whole process goes, and obviously a review of the seat when it arrives....I also asked about removal and install, ( I assume it's the same as the stock seat but wanna confirm) and I've asked about what materials it's made from.
I've placed, and paid for my order ( PayPal). I ordered a set of rear pegs as well....delivery expected 1 month. So far communication for the transaction, all done through Facebook, has been quick and smooth.
Cheers
Forgot....it does mount and remove the same as stock seat, and it's made of PU or BI cast leather, and hand stitched.
Hey guys....my seat is finished....JP vintage posted these pics, they will be shipping tommorow....let me know what you think.....I'm super pleased......hopefully it's comfortable for me and the wife. Full review when it arrives.
Received a message today through Facebook, that my seat and rear pegs have been posted...I also recived a tracking number with it....haven't checked the number yet as I'm working.....will check it tonight.
So far I'm pleased with the professional way this transaction has been going, seems to be ahead of the initial estimation time wise.
Communication with JP vintage continues to be excellent.
I purchased the black step up cafe seat as well and purchased the FEK from his brother at Moto Trio (the other aftermarket accessories pictured on the bike are from Moto Trio). Looking forward to posting pics / review.
Got the Moto Trio FEK installed and added a couple mini LEDs with the "magnify amber lens" on them. Love the clean look I have now. Seat should be here in another week.
Have a step cafe seat on order now, Dark Rust Diamond. It will be here before i get the bike as I'll need it to fabricate an FEK
cheers for the thread.
Will do Mackk, I had a look at your bike, very nice mate. Mine will look different to yours though. Mine will look 70's or 80's. I have t'd up with a performance shop to use my bike to fabricate a new FEK for them to sell while I get my tank, front gaurd and side covers painted. Ill go for a larger Lucas style rear tail light that doubles as the number plate light and holder.
I like the diamond also but the white stitching will need addressing. I dont get my bike until September so it will be later in the year and ill start a build thread.
Cheers
Hey guys.....my seat, rear pegs, and tank pads showed up.
A brief review..
Communication, packaging, delivery all excellent...came with a cool tin, that had seat cleaner, and a microfibre towel in it.(nice touch)
Rear sets seem to be quality pieces, and look stylish...the actual peg isn't an exact match colour wise....almost looks painted? Powder coated? Anyway it's not so noticeable that I'm disappointed. They are nice.
Seat is very stylish...and really the pics don't do it justice. Quality....definately not triumph level...belive the base Is Fiberglas....one of the support rubbers was coming off...I super glued it. Fitment is pretty good, just needed to use slight pressure to get it in place.
I haven't had a chance to go for a ride as I had other commitments so I can't comment on comfort as of yet.
In summary a stylish and well fitting seat....but as far as quality goes? Time will tell.
Cheers
Not sure if I'm gonna keep the tank pads or not...trying to decide if I like them?
Hey Mackk, thanks for the photos and great description. My transfer rate isn't as good as I hoped ( $0.76 us). Seat, pegs and freight came to $491.00 au. My dealer will do a factory comfort seat for just a bit less.
I have read good reports on the factory comfort seat, so eagerly waiting on what you report on comfort.
Love the look of it on your bike, in my opinion much better than factory single seat and cowl. And better looking than the factory dual comfort seat.
Gotta ask, if you stretch your but back is there more leg room on the factory single seat or your new seat...I'm 6'2 so is a concern to me.
Looks mean and nice...
P.S like any good shirt, cut the tag off, unless you need to write your name on it.
I haven't ridden the new seat yet, and I'm assuming it will take some time to wear it in....but I did a sitting test with both seats....and I think the factory seat at this point lets you get back further....I'm also 6'2 so I understand the need for leg room....I am still able to get my knees in the cutouts....and as I wear the seat in I assume it will get better.
Great find Mackk:smile2: I´m sooo glad I found this thread; as I was about to pull the trigger on the Triumph black 2up seat....Really glad I didn´t:grin2:
And whats even more positive is that the step cafe seat and the footpegs combined still is cheaper than the Triumph one:smile2:
Thanks guys....still haven't been able to go for a ride.....as I said the pics aren't doing the bike justice.....it is super sexy....I've decided to keep tank pads as well.
Seat comfort review when I get some saddle time, with and without my wife.
Went for a brief ride, about 75 minutes and I'm happy to say the seat was very comfortable.
I tried to do a bunch of different riding, in traffic, freeway, and some of my regular wanna be racer roads.
I can say that the seat was comfortable in all situations, pressure on the wrists seems to be about the same as stock seat, but I'm hoping as I break it in, that will improve as well.
In the corners, I found it way easier to move side, too side and felt like I was getting way more feedback from the bike, making it all feel smoother and more controlled.
Obviously, 75 minutes can't tell the whole story, but for what it's worth I'm super pleased with the seat so far.
I think I will eventually get their brown version, though I will admit I would still give my right nut to have a combination seat like my thruxton 900......I loved that thing
The guy from JP emailed me and was very patient with me deciding but his price structure is ridiculous. He sells them for 6000 THB which if you jump on a currency converter is $226 au or $177 us. His "International" price hahaha converts to $491 au or $371 us including freight. That's double the bloody price.
Kinda defeats the idea of world trade if you decide to sell internationally in the highest currency you can find.
Exactly the same experience for me. I pointed out that the cost was being inflated for western customers and he lost my order too........Greed!
