I removed the airbox today

Well, I figured why not and went ahead and ripped out the airbox on my thruxton. I ended up cutting it all up but kept the sides intact for the most part. I will take some pictures soon. I went down to cycle gear and purchased some UNI pods, which fit pretty **** good. They did not have the correct size jets, etc so I need to make a trip to the dealer this week. I was thinking about putting in 145 and 42. I have D&D pipes, AI removed and thats about it. What do you think I should do other than that?

Thanks,
Chans

You might even go bigger on the mains, 150s or 155s.

145s should get you close. Get a shim for each needle too.

Does anyone else have any suggestions on the size of jets? I am just trying to figure out what will be the best all around. Oh yes, I am pretty much at sea level so there isnt much mountian climbing around these parts (bummer I know!)

Cheers,
Chans

I have mototwin SS silencers and pod K&N filters. Now running 142, 40 @ 2.75-3 turns out. One 0.5 shim under each needle (running stock thruxton needle). I use a softer spring for the slide (coming from the T-sport) and I enlarged the vacuum hole from 2.5 to 4 mm to get a faster response from those lazy CV carbs.
I have a friend with the Zard high-pipes: he tried out different mains going up till 158. It's incredible but with pod filters on the thruxton it seems that you can throw in larger and larger jet with the engine still pulling hard at high-rpm's (with the 158 he made some nice freaking blue flames from the exhaust when shifting hard).
However I think that the correct mains are between 140 and 150 according to your exhaust and your bike (they are not exactly equal one another).

Well, after a LONG debate here is what I ended up with.

The dealer did not have any main jets in a 145 or a 150. So, I went with a main of 155

For the pilot, I ended up with a 45 (dealer said it was the size they used on bikes when taking out the air box etc.) Also, they suggested no shim.

I am not sold on the 155's BUT since cyclegear and the Triumph dealer did not have th correct size, I figure why not and go ahead and try them. So, this weekend I am going to put them in and figure out the air mixture with how many turns.

One last thing..........I think the jets that the dealer sells (even though they are identical to those sold at cyclegear) are made of gold...........$8.50 EACH compared to 2.99 each from cyclegear (once again, they were out of the size's I wanted though!)

Cheers,
Chans

No pictures yet but hopefully this weekend. I was going to save the area where the stock air filter went but as I was chopping away......I just said screw it and cut it completely out!
